Fastest cruising speed?

    What is the best highest speeds? Im always in a hurry and need to drive FAR and want to go the fastest without TOTALLY killing my MPG. How much worst is 85MPH vs 80MPH? I have not been able to get that fast yet. The traffic here sucks.

    Beware that the graph is for the 2010. Your 2009 is a bit less efficient overall, more so at high speeds.

    Agreed. I think the GenII chart he made showed about a 10mph improvement with the GenIII or was it 5mph? Either way, the GenIII could travel faster then the GenII and achieve the same MPG. The extra TQ is nice.

    My speed sensor is off by ~2 mph. You should check yours somehow like with a GPS or those police signs that say "this is your speed"

    I usually drive 70 mph on the highways. Depends on your topography. I do alot of hilly driving and one way is almost all downhill so it averages to 52- 54 mpg. At 55 mph it only goes up to 56 or 58. Not worth it.

    I wonder how the Prius would do in Florida or the plain states where it's all perfectly flat.
