Featured FCA Pacifica Plugin Hybrid Updates...

    Well, from my contact who recently saw the Pacifica Hybrid (which is exciting in my world...maybe until you hear this information).
    • 8 seat option confirmed.
    • Moonroof option unknown at the moment.
    • There is a delay...looking at a January release now.
    • There will be a trim worth $55k (lol Wth!) - he's not sure what trim.
    • The Pacifica Plugin Hybrid was seen but not driven, no one got to drive it.

    Ok...so I have a huge problem with the markup. If the base model is $30k, and there's a ton of battery power, doesn't it make sense to raise it $10-$15k?

    In an ideal world the incentives should bring it down close to the base model of a non plugin (hybrid) version.

    IE, hopefully the Prime is only $1-2k above the Prius price after incentives.

    $55k is like...uhh $20k short of a Tesla? I sure hope it won't be that price.

    Hopefully.

    Does that mean the base is more like $45k? I mean I would say...let's take the Volt and compare it to the Malibu.

    $21.6k for the Malibu.
    $33.2k for the Volt before incentives (wow...).

    So the Pacifica base is $30k.
    Hopefully in this case the Plugin Hybrid is...$42k.

    I mean the Volt even has a larger battery than the Malibu.

    Or maybe they'll do a BMW-like, lease arrangement. For an MSRP listed $50K, the lease was $4k down (same as next year's tax credit) and $250/mo for 30-36 months. At the end, the residual value will be quite affordable at about $30k.

    i don't know if there's a specific spread between base and top o the line across all models/manufacturers.
    pip started at 32.5 and 45 maybe? what is the gen 4 lift back, 25 and 40? my wives hycam was 27 and 35.
    hard to figure base from a top line of 55k, but should be 45k or less.
    but it also depends on what's in the base, and how badly they want to ratchet you up. with plug in hybrids, the top line options probably help pay for the hybrid system.

    Another thread somebody (Hill?) today mentioned Honda Odyssey Hybrid for sale in Japan...maybe we can get price delta there.

    ...tell you what though i was probably not in the running for a new one...maybe used one after depreciation. So I wish they'd get it out.

    This is why I think the Accord PHEV was discontinued after 2 years. There's not a lot of takers for a $40k PHEV that starts around $20k for the non hybrid version. I know batteries are expensive but Toyota managed to split a base model PiP and an advanced model so that people like me can still buy one. We can only hope FCA offers a lightly optioned plug in at $42k. Given they have no real hybrids and there is no completion, I doubt it. Tesla has shown that early adopters are willing to pay the big bucks.

    Supposedly fca logged a lot of miles in the pacifica and the safety features are way up there. There's even an article our there routing it's good supposed reliability

    The Accord PHEV was purely for CARB compliance, and was sold only in California and New York. It went away because Honda had the Fit EV come out for lease, and there general lack of FSPs mean they don't need to sell has many fuel efficient cars to counter their thirstier line up.

    And just to think we bought our base (plus power windows/locks) 2006 Dodge Caravan for $20k back in late 2005 (granted we should have purchased a Prius then), $30k is quite a jump in base price over 10 years!

    I knew that, except for the EV range projection, but forgot to mention it.

    Has Honda stated any availability for the BEV and PHEV models yet?
