New Green Act (including EV tax credit extensions)
There is a quite good chance this will pass in some form:
On 5 February, the House Ways and Means Subcommittee on Select Revenue Measures announced the reintroduction of the “Growing Renewable Energy Efficiency Now (GREEN)” Act. The bill was previously introduced in June 2020. If passed, the legislation would provide for a host of incentives across the renewable energy, energy storage, carbon capture, and electric vehicle industries.
Some notable provisions include:
...increase of the electric vehicle credit cap to 600,000 vehicles sold, the credit would then reduce to 50 percent the following quarter, and then be eliminated for that manufacturer.
...Qualification of sales of used electric vehicles for up to a US$2,500 credit... -

Toyota Mirai lives up to Toyota’s reputation of QUALITY!
Not sure why anyone buys anything other than Toyota, here we have a 2016 Toyota Mirai Fuel Cell vehicle which reached 200,000 miles today and the only issue in 5 years and 200,000 miles has been one bad wheel bearing. Not too shabby! Gotta Love Toyota!!

how is 131MPGe actually calculated?
after 6 months of owning a Prius prime 2020, I am still confused on the how this calculated. Combined with electricity from the hybrid system, the government estimates it will earn 133 MPGe. I assume this is for just a 200 mile trip and one would need to recharge battery to obtain the 133MPGe to continue this number. Here is the article I read: - "" the Primes tested on our 200-mile fuel-economy route missed their EPA highway rating. However, since we test at a considerably higher speed (75 mph) than the EPA, we'd be impressed by any plug-in that was able to equal its EPA number. In hybrid mode, the Prime Plus earned 47 mpg highway and the Premium model earned 49 mpg. We also tested each in EV mode where the Plus earned 116 MPGe and the Premium earned 118.
does anybody have any other real data.CINQUIRY Feb 18, 2021 Prius, Hybrid, EV and Alt-Fuel News Read More Views: 2,999 Likes: 0 Replies: 10 -

Virginia goes to psuedo-Miles Driven Gaso Tax
Who knew? Not me.
Apparently our last year's Virginia GA changed our state gasoline tax to a de facto "Miles Driven" basis.
If you renew your Virginia vehicle registration, and your car exceeds 25 MPG EPA rating, you will be politely advised that you are underpaying pump taxes, and to be fair, you will be assessed an extra fee. In my case owe an extra $35 taxes because my new RAV4 Hybrid gets 40 MPG.
Because my wife and I do not put on too many miles in retirement, and with COVID, that means I probably now pay a little more combined Va. pump tax with my RAV4 Hybrid than I would with a non hybrid RAV4. Not to mention significantly more annual car tax in Northern Virginia .
I have mixed emotions though, I am pleased that we are not singling out Hybrids for punishment like many Red states are doing. In Virginia's case, apparently, anyone with a car over 25 MPG owes a new fee out of fairness (fairness to who? The people who feel conservation of natural resources is a bad... -

4-wheel killer?
So this Russian company is coming out with a flying car that runs on hydrogen fuel cells.
https://scienex.tech/
Founded in February 2019, Scienex is a Russian startup in the business of designing and manufacturing safe, small and clean hybrid-electric vertical takeoff and landing (VTOL) aircraft for Urban Air Mobility (UAM). In December 2020, it has been reported that Scienex has been working on the Flyter project for two years. The goal for the aircraft design is to fit in an urban environment as an air taxi without having to change any urban infrastructure.
The Flyter air taxi concept design has been specifically made without any external propellers, so the aircraft can safely fly in a dense urban environment without its propellers hitting buildings, other urban structures, trees or people. The aircraft also has no wings. Flyter can land or take off from any parking space whether it is street parking or from a...PriusV17 Feb 7, 2021 Prius, Hybrid, EV and Alt-Fuel News Read More Views: 5,371 Likes: 0 Replies: 23 -

Starting My Son's Credit 2006 Prius
So I co-signed for a used Prius for my son who has a wife 2 kids and a baby on the way. We live in Michigan and he has to drive a lot. I suggested a used Prius, it has 204000 miles on it and the mechanic we bought it from told us he but in a new battery. Well, now the car does work after two months, drives slow, engine light on, and the dealer says it needs a new battery. We paid 3500 for the car, a new battery cost 2500-3100 from the dealer. He has to pay loan monthly payments. Should we just chuck the Prius, I feel bad that I suggested a vehicle that he can't afford to repair? Will someone purchase a Prius that does not work and need a battery? It is no way he can afford to fix this, anything over 500 dollars is out of his budget and I need my car back!
Ripped off, we were. -
