Over 100 catalytic converters stolen from cars in recent weeks
Though the glory days of Prius may be behind it, the Prius name keeps showing up in the headlines. This particular article is just a short distance north of the San Francisco Bay Area in California (aka: North Bay).
"Tuesday morning’s chase was Sonoma County’s second high-speed police pursuit of suspected catalytic converter thieves in one week. The county has seen a remarkable spate of over 100 stolen catalytic converters in recent weeks — usually from Prius models. Petaluma police had received a report from a nearby neighborhood of vehicle tampering by two men in a small, dark vehicle, McGreevy said. When officers spotted that car and tried to stop it, the vehicle sped off at such a high speed — at least 90 mph, police said — that pursuit was quickly terminated. Moments later, the driver lost control of the car, careening across the oncoming lane and into that tree, 150 yards south of the St. Vincent de Paul Church. In the Honda, police found a reciprocating saw and at least...PriusCamper Jan 13, 2021 Prius, Hybrid, EV and Alt-Fuel News Read More Views: 4,553 Likes: 4 Replies: 21 -

Fleet fuel efficiency and credits
This was an article about fleet fuel efficiency and credits.
U.S. vehicle fleet fuel efficiency fell in 2019 to 24.9 mpg -- EPA (yahoo.com)
Obviously Tesla is the big winner selling credits followed by Honda then Toyota. The biggest recipients are GM, Ford and Chrysler whose top selling vehicle for all three is their pickup truck.
Fleet fuel efficiency is market driven. With cheap gas, people are buying trucks and bigger SUV's. The efficiency numbers are going to go down despite most new models getting better mileage than their predecessors.
I would like to know a little more about what those credits cost those companies.Ronald Doles Jan 8, 2021 Prius, Hybrid, EV and Alt-Fuel News Read More Views: 5,412 Likes: 0 Replies: 4 -

Ford strikes out at Tesla!
“While the buyers of some electric vehicles have had to accept certain flaws, Palmer says that this isn’t acceptable for Ford. “The doors fit properly, the plastics and other materials color-match, the bumpers don’t fall off, the roof doesn’t come off when you wash it, the door handles don’t get stuck in cold weather. ...” -

Plug-In Hybrids Polluting more?
Not sure if this has been posted before, seems familiar? Maybe similar news article. Anyway, this was posted yesterday on Green Car Reports:
Report: Plug-in hybrids are polluting more than claimed
The argument skirted, but worth considering: even if the engines are polluting more, if they're only running say 20% of the time, does it cancel out?Mendel Leisk Dec 10, 2020 Prius, Hybrid, EV and Alt-Fuel News Read More Views: 1,344 Likes: 0 Replies: 3 -

Porsche building an e-fuel plant...
...with Siemens in Chile.
"Wind energy will power the electrolyzers to split water into hydrogen and oxygen. CO2 will then be filtered out of the air and processed with the aforementioned hydrogen to create synthetic methanol. A proprietary methanol-to-gasoline process provided under license by Exxon Mobil results in e-gas. Porsche says the liquid fuel will be safe without modification for all of its cars, including classic models."
How Porsche's new e-fuel plant could pave the way for guilt-free classic-car motoring - Roadshow
Chile was chosen for its wind supply. The first phase could be making 34k gallons by 2022. This will go to what Porsche called beacon projects; their race race program and other promotional projects. They plan a fast ramp up though; 14.5 million gallons by...Trollbait Dec 7, 2020 Prius, Hybrid, EV and Alt-Fuel News Read More Views: 5,198 Likes: 3 Replies: 19 -
About 150 Cadillac dealers would rather leave the brand than sell EVs
Source: About 150 Cadillac dealers would rather leave the brand than sell EVs
Dealerships might hamper GM’s plans to electrify its cars. Wall Street Journal tipsters claim that roughly 150 GM dealerships in the US have decided to drop the Cadillac brand and accept a buyout (ranging from $300,000 to over $1 million) rather than spend about $200,000 to upgrade the dealerships with charging stations, repair hardware and other equipment needed to sell EVs. Many of these brands only sell a few Cadillacs per month versus more for Buick, Chevrolet and GMC, but it’s still a significant blow when GM has 880 Cadillac dealers in the country.
Who would rather sell out than sell EVs.
