Why don’t EVs come with spare tires?
It is really frustrating when you have a screw or nail in your tire, let alone a blowout, if you don’t have a spare. Getting tires repaired or shopping for tires is stressful, especially if you cannot streamline it due to the lack of a spare.

Death to EV bills
Source: https://www.reuters.com/business/autos-transportation/republican-senators-call-1000-tax-new-ev-sales-pay-road-repairs-2025-02-12/
. . . impose a one-time $1,000 fee charged at the time of purchase, which would be roughly equivalent to what drivers of conventional vehicles pay in federal gas taxes over 10 years for highway funds, said Senator Deb Fischer, the lead sponsor of the measure that also includes Senators Pete Ricketts and Cynthia Lummis.
U.S. Senate Republicans on Wednesday proposed a pair of bills to kill the country's $7,500 electric vehicle tax credit and impose a new $1,000 tax on EVs to pay for road repairs.
Senator John Barrasso, joined by 14 senators including Senate Majority Leader John Thune introduced legislation to repeal the tax credit for new EVs and kill the $4,000 used EV credit, end the federal...bwilson4web Feb 13, 2025 Prius, Hybrid, EV and Alt-Fuel News Read More Views: 16,875 Likes: 2 Replies: 149 -

NIMH Prius models a better value than Lithium models?
I just bought my first Prius--a 2014 Prius C- and I reconditioned and serviced thd battery. Love the car, and now I'm looking for a 2017 to 2019 model.
Are the Lithium battery packs in the newer models rebuildable?
I'm thinking that you can only recondition and tweak and extend the NIMH battery packs and replace individual cells but you can't do much with Lithium cells...
Is my thinking incorrect? Should I really be looking at Gen 3 years instead of later generations?

Proposed Code Changes affect L2 Charging
The National Electrical Code is updated every 3 years. They are proposing mandating a 5mA GFCI on all (hardwired & plugin) 240 volt circuits, Any reser would likely be located in the electrical panel, perhaps in a locked room.
There should be a carveout for L2 chargers because they have their own GFPE (Ground Fault Protection of Equipment), which is intended to protect equipment and is permitted to trip at values larger than 5mA, often in the 15–20mA range.

Trump’s war on EVs is already off to a bad start
Good news for EV rebates and tax credits. It looks like he won’t be able to get rid of the existing EV rebates and tax credits.

Oil catch can locations
I have always seen the usual OCC setups
All with different locations but leading to the same PCV location.
I recently have been looking around and stumbled on a few images that seem to show an entirely different setup.
The first two images are of the ZVW30
The other images are of the ZVW50
My question is...will running this setup be the same as the other setup going to the PCV
Seems much easier to work with and remove if needed.
Sheesh you can even run both setups and be double protected.

Price of OEM NiMH battery pack doubles at dealerships
From what I hear and see, dealerships are now charging double for the OEM hybrid battery pack for the Prius. Anyone know why? Also I remember I had a link from Panasonic's website to brand new individual Toyota NiMH cells but I can't seem to find it now. Does anyone have that link?Pd30242 Jan 12, 2025 Prius, Hybrid, EV and Alt-Fuel News Read More Views: 4,043 Likes: 0 Replies: 26 -

Toyota acknowledges some negative bZ4X feedback
The negative bZ4X feedback seems to be mostly about price, which Toyota has fixed, and range.
It seems to be a good car overall though.
