Jalopnik reviews 2018 Bolt
Overall a nice town car, it appears to have more traditional car features:
The 2018 Chevrolet Bolt EV Makes the Electric Car Feel Normal, and That’s the Point
However, adaptive cruise control (the GM version of TSS-P), is not available so I have no interest.

First-of-its-kind hybrid electric ferry boat to take maiden voyage in SF Bay – East Bay Times
On Thursday, one small ferry boat company will make one giant stride for the maritime industry and the environment as the Enhydra, a first-of-its-kind hybrid electric ferry, takes its maiden voyage in the San Francisco Bay.
At 128-feet long, carrying up to 600 passengers, the Enhydra is the largest aluminum-hulled passenger vessel built in the United States to be powered with lithium-ion batteries and plug-in electric technology, according to its operator, Red and White Fleet.
It’s the “Prius” of ferry boats, said Tom Escher, the company’s president.

Bogus Nicola/Tesla Patent Infringement Suit
Seems the poor slobs were trying to sue, more than make semi tractors - so the wana-be manufacturing company is pretty much on its very last dying gasp. But - let's still wish them well -
Next . . . . bankruptcy? after all, the Nikola shakedown attempt to get money from Tesla, just to say afloat has failed. Poor guys - hope they didn't pay too much for THAT legal service. @Lucifer will have to find more FUD to troll with - shouldn't be hard though with so many shorters feeding the trolls.

Automakers Won’t Change EV Development Plans
Source: Automakers Won’t Change EV Development Plans | Design News
Despite a move by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to freeze automotive fuel efficiency standards, automakers and their suppliers are likely to continue down the existing path toward electrification, experts said.
There are two big reasons for automakers to stay the course, they stated. First, the global market will push them toward electrification, no matter what the EPA does. Second, a lengthy court battle between the EPA and the state of California is imminent, and automakers are unlikely to change their plans until they know the legal outcome.
“There’s going to be a long, drawn-out battle, and it will probably go all the way to the Supreme Court,” Sam Abuelsamid, senior analyst for Navigant...bwilson4web Sep 17, 2018 Prius, Hybrid, EV and Alt-Fuel News Read More Views: 869 Likes: 4 Replies: 4 -

August EV Sales
August Sales! See the chart in full on InsideEV
From InsideEV's:
We estimate a total of 36,380 plug-in electric vehicles were sold in the U.S. in August, compared to last year’s 16,514 and last month’s 29,514. Based on automakers’ sales reports and our estimates, 190,046 plug-in cars have been delivered through the end of August 2018. Needless to say, it was the best month of all time by a long shot! Not to mention the extreme level of other records broken.
Now, four out of five months in 2018 have claimed a spot on our list of top months of all time for U.S. EV sales.

Find any interesting charging locations?
There's a rumor around our office about a charging station spotted in a foresty area in NOCAL. Those who claim to have seen it say it's installed near a random tree - very possibly a DIY install.
I've yet to see a picture of it (pics or it didn't happen), which is why it remains a fun rumor for now. It makes me wonder - have any of you come across charging stations in places you never would have expected to see one?

Others losing the Federal Tax Credit after Tesla
Tesla has confirmed selling its 200,000th vehicle in the U.S. and they've updated their tax credit phaseout chart to reflect.
image above InsideEV's (via Tesla)
For those new to the tax credit details available for EV's, here's a quick explanation.
All plug-ins vehicles sold in the U.S. are eligible for a federal tax credit up to $7,500 (more qualifying details apply). When a manufacturer sells 200,000 cars, the full amount will be available through the following quarter. After, all new plug-ins from that manufacturer are eligible for 50% of the per-vehicle credit amount for two additional quarters. The credit then continues to diminish until it's phased out completely.
The other manufacturer's getting close to losing the federal tax credit are:
- GM
- Nissan
- Ford
- Toyota
- BMW

Carplay for Toyota 2019?
I was playing around with the configurator on toyota`s website, then i checked out the new Toyota Aygo (cheapest toyota) and found this, its for sure carplay running on the multimedia display. I checked out all the other toyota`s thats also on the website in the configurator, none of them had the carplay pic in the display, just maps, only the new Aygo that was updated on their website literally 1 day ago had it.
Even On Apple`s website it doesnt say the aygo got carplay lol, will Toyota offically start supporting carplay in late 2018?

E15 May be Coming to a station near you
Understanding The Debate Over Ethanol And Smog – R-Squared Energy
Apparently Pres. Trump is supporting farm state request to allow E15 sales year round. It will apparently not be mandated, but allowed to be sold. Ethanol increases evaporative emissions to some extent, for the reasons described in the article. So that is one sticking point.wjtracy Aug 27, 2018 Prius, Hybrid, EV and Alt-Fuel News Read More Views: 7,639 Likes: 0 Replies: 47
