PG&E bankruptcy
Source: California utility firm suspected of starting deadly wildfires goes bankrupt | US news | The Guardian
The utility company that services more than a third of California announced Monday it plans to file for bankruptcy by the end of the month. Several deadly wildfires believed to have been caused by the company left it with potential liabilities of at least $30bn.
The boards of directors of Pacific Gas and Electric (PG&E) has determined that the move “is ultimately the only viable option to restore PG&E’s financial stability to fund ongoing operations and provide safe service to customers,” the San Francisco-based company stated in a filing at the Security and Exchange Commission.

Nearly 90% of EV drivers polled won't go back to Gas
Irony is - between less folk driving & more folk plugging in and fracking the last bits of fossil fuel ~ it seems we've apparently created enough of a fuel reserve (in addition to oil company tax breaks) to need to further boost gas burning. Woo hoo! Bring on the Pickus, Vans & SUV's !!

Cadillac, the latest Tesla killer
Source: Exclusive: GM's Cadillac will introduce EV in fight against Tesla - sources | Reuters
Cadillac is expected to become General Motors Co's (GM.N) lead electric vehicle brand as the largest U.S. automaker gears up to introduce a new model under that luxury marquee to challenge Tesla Inc (TSLA.O), two people briefed on the matter said Thursday.
GM is set to announce Friday as part of an investor update that a Cadillac will be the first vehicle based on its forthcoming "BEV3" platform, the people said. The vehicle platform is the basis for vehicle underpinnings, including the battery system and other structural and mechanical parts.
GM is not expected to disclose on Friday additional details, including precisely when the Cadillac EV will be built, whether it will be a crossover or sedan, or where...bwilson4web Jan 10, 2019 Prius, Hybrid, EV and Alt-Fuel News Read More Views: 9,399 Likes: 1 Replies: 112 -

Given the cooperation between this show and Wards, I was fully expecting to see a segment today (maybe you will show it tomorrow) I got in my daily Ward’s email links. I have since deleted the email so I don’t have the link, but in summary, it said that the average fleet MPG of light vehicles sold in the US in 2018, *** despite*** trucks and SUVs being 69% of all sales, was actually much HIGHER.
This is yet another amazing effect of the 140,000 extra Pure EVs tesla sold in 2018 over 2017, almost all Model 3s. They not only obliterated the negative effect of the truck-heavy sales, they substantially increased the fleet MPG over last year.

Prius is the second most likely vehicle to be kept for 15 years
From Iseecars.com:
One out of 6 Prius owners keep their Prius for 15 years, beat only by the Toyota Highlander.
The study actually reports the percentage of 15 year old or older vehicles sold by the original owner.
“The oldest hybrid vehicle to remain in continuous production, the Prius’ appearance on the list helps dispel concerns about battery durability and shows that Toyota’s quality and reliability standards extend beyond its conventional fuel vehicles.”
Prius has ranked high in previous studies as well.

GM did 200,000 EVs wrong
Source: GM sold 200,000 electric vehicles in U.S. by 2018, triggering tax-credit phaseout: source | Reuters
General Motors Co (GM.N) hit 200,000 total electric vehicles sold in the United States by the end of 2018, reaching a threshold that triggers a phase-out of a $7,500 federal tax credit over the next 15 months, a person briefed on the matter said Wednesday.
The largest U.S. automaker reached the figure in the fourth quarter of 2018, which means the credit will fall to $3,750 in April, and then drop to $1,875 in October for six months. The credit will completely disappear by April 2020. The 200,000 figure covers GM’s cumulative EV sales since 2010.
