I-Pace reviews are coming out
Of three early reviews David Green identified at insideevsforum, this one is well written:
Jaguar I-Pace EV400 S 2018 review | Autocar
. . .
The only thing they’ll have to know about the I-Pace is that it’s a battery electric vehicle (BEV), and the first premium, long-range, practical, pure-electric vehicle from an old-school car maker, if that doesn’t sound overly specific. What I mean is that it joins the Tesla Model series and a host of plug-in hybrids as the long-range, poshbadge electric choice and has felt like a long time coming.
It’s curious how the established industry chose to launch EVs with semi-affordable prices...bwilson4web Jun 3, 2018 Prius, Hybrid, EV and Alt-Fuel News Read More Views: 1,718 Likes: 0 Replies: 17 -
Incentives that kick GAS
Happy Friday!
I wanted to share this list of EV incentives as a community resource for anyone that wants to use it for their own research. Our team updates this list regularly for EV incentives available throughout the nation. When you visit the link you can see what's available by clicking on your state.
There's also a link there that will show you incentives for installing commercial and home stations.
Here's where you'll find incentives that kick GAS (see what we did there?)
I hope you find this helpful!

Electric Large Vehicle Fleet News
Organizations like DHL, UPS and even Zion National Park are electrifying large vehicle fleets. New York is transitioning to emissions-free fleets and 12 cities worldwide have committed to buying only electric buses by 2025.
Electric buses will be 40 percent of the market by 2022, thanks to major financial, environmental and operational benefits. They have much lower operating costs and can already be cheaper, on the basis of total cost of ownership, than conventional buses today.
Here's a quick roundup of potential game changers in trucks and buses - but there are many more recent announcements internationally as well!

Nikola v. Tesla
There are reports this complaint has been filed:
https://insight.rpxcorp.com/litigation_documents/12903053
COMPLAINT FOR INFRINGEMENT OF UNITED STATES PATENT NOS. D811,944; D811,968; AND D816,004
. . .
We've seen similar patent disputes in the past that tried to block large format NiMH battery cells and the micro-controller, Prius transmission. Patent sitting comes to mind but there are times when innovation has occurred and the patent owner deserves the win. I say this because I have an open mind and a court filing without deposition and discovery is just one side. So I went to:
UNITED STATES DISTRICT COURT FOR THE DISTRICT OF ARIZONA
To see if there were any open court filings, I went to the district court web page and could find no case titled with either Nikola and/or Tesla in the title. Perhaps someone with more legal skills (calling @hill) or others might give some...bwilson4web May 30, 2018 Prius, Hybrid, EV and Alt-Fuel News Read More Views: 960 Likes: 0 Replies: 5 -

Autopilot settlement
Source: Tesla agrees to settle class action over Autopilot billed as 'safer' | Reuters
NEW YORK (Reuters) - Tesla Inc on Thursday reached an agreement to settle a class action lawsuit with buyers of its Model S and Model X cars who alleged that the company’s assisted-driving Autopilot system was “essentially unusable and demonstrably dangerous.”
The lawsuit said Tesla misrepresented on its website that the cars came with capabilities designed to make highway driving “safer.”
The Tesla owners said they paid an extra $5,000 to have their cars equipped with the Autopilot software with additional safety features such as automated emergency braking and side collision warning.
The features were “completely inoperable,” according to the complaint.

Dodge Challenger Demon ad turns into best electric vehicle advertising yet
So basically Dodge's marketing team accidentally said that electric vehicles are better than their gas guzzler car with their disclaimer.
Can't wait to see the Tesla Roadster 2.0 racing this car in a few years.

Automakers investing $150 Billion towards EVs
Automakers have announced they are going electric, are investing $150 billion, and are deploying hundreds of new EV models that will eventually produce at least 13 million EVs globally per year.
Quote: "Many strategic plans are not announced, so the actual investments are likely much
greater than shown. Considering the incomplete parts of the table, like investments
by General Motors and Toyota, the cumulative investment amount is likely to be much
larger. For example, GM indicated it would reach 20 all-electric models by 2023 and turn
a profit by 2023, but has not made an announcement about its total investment level.
Likewise, BMW and BYD have had among the largest deployment of electric vehicles to
date, but estimates of their investments were not forthcoming."
That's just one takeaway from the new report from The International Council of Clean Transporation. You can find their full...Team ChargePoint May 24, 2018 Prius, Hybrid, EV and Alt-Fuel News Read More Views: 1,012 Likes: 0 Replies: 5 -
Honda’s New 186-Mile Electric Fit Will Be Priced Below $20,000
Honda's New 186-Mile Electric Fit Will Be Priced Below $20,000
Now, I just wonder if they'll sell them nationwide in the US, or if they'll still only sell them in California/CARB states.
I do love that it's now comparable in price to entry level sedans. Even though the range isn't the greatest, and I'm assuming that 186 EV miles isn't on the EPA test cycle, at such a fairly low price relative to other EV's, it should get a lot of attention, and potentially sales, if Honda doesn't hamstring availability. -
Tesla hits back and some media are having vapors
Source: Comrade Musk Wants to Launch “Pravda” Website to Rate Journalists | TheDetroitBureau.com
. . .
“Going to create a site where the public can rate the core truth of any article & track the credibility score over time of each journalist, editor & publication,” Musk said in his latest burst of tweets. “Thinking of calling it Pravda …”
. . .
Most of the article is a demonstration of media malpractice. So I posted this comment:
It is about time!
A 13 year Prius owner, I’ve seen a stream of misleading articles about the Prius. Elon is fighting back against the same media malpractice. For example, the 2001-07 FARS data clearly showed SUVs and pickups were the leading cause of pedestrian fatalities (see link.) Yet there were huge numbers of articles (even The Detroit Bureau) claiming the Prius needed a noise maker to save pedestrians....bwilson4web May 24, 2018 Prius, Hybrid, EV and Alt-Fuel News Read More Views: 1,083 Likes: 4 Replies: 14 -

Brakes, ride quality, controls, rear seat comfort.
But the biggest issue was stopping distance and they tried their tests with two sample cars, one they bought and an owner's car.

New April Record for Toyota Hybrid Sales in Canada
Prius Prime is 2/3rds of all April Prius sales (so basically the regular Prius is holding steady near 150 units a month on average). The Camry Hybrid takes up 26% of all Camry sales and the RAV4 Hybrid accounted for 12% of all RAV4 sales (but the RAV4 Hybrid is the best selling Toyota hybrid and right now, it's beating the Corolla as the best selling Toyota in Canada).
Also interesting to note. Total Prius sales for the first 4 months of 2018 is 1,556 units (this includes...Tideland Prius May 20, 2018 Prius, Hybrid, EV and Alt-Fuel News Read More Views: 894 Likes: 1 Replies: 0 -
Royal wedding: EV to the reception!
The newly married Duke & Duchess of Sussex, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry traveled from Windsor Castle to Frogmore House in a silver-blue Jaguar E-Type Concept Zero.
It was originally manufactured in 1968 but has since been converted to electric.
From Autoblog:
"Jaguar left as much of the original 1968 Series 1.5 E-Type in tact as possible while replacing the original inline-six engine with an electric motor and battery pack. Enough power is sent to the rear wheels to push this feline from 0-62 in just 5.5 seconds. That means it's quicker now than it was when new and chugging on gasoline."Team ChargePoint May 19, 2018 Prius, Hybrid, EV and Alt-Fuel News Read More Views: 1,078 Likes: 4 Replies: 17 -
