Joint venture for BEV and hydrogen fuel cell vehicles
Source: Traton And Hino To Create EV/FCV Joint Venture
Traton (a subsidiary of the Volkswagen Group) and Hino (subsidiary of Toyota) signed a joint venture agreement for e-mobility - specifically battery electric and hydrogen fuel cell vehicles.
The two companies were already strategic partners since 2018, and now they intend to plan and provide e-mobility products, combining their unique strengths.
"They will form a team of advanced specialists from both companies and launch activities in Södertälje (Sweden) and in a second step in Tokyo (Japan). TRATON and Hino will team up to shorten lead times for future e-mobility products with battery and fuel cell technology. The two companies are convinced that both technologies will be needed in the future."
According to the press release, the JV will work on:

ELECTRIFIED VEHICLES OUTPERFORMING THE OVERALL MARKET
And speaking of car sales, as we reported earlier in the week, sales in the U.S. were down nearly 3% in October. But there’s one segment that’s more than holding its own during the downturn…electrified vehicles. According to Wards Intelligence, sales of battery electrics, hybrids and plug-in hybrids, were up a whopping 25% last month. BEVs, which for the most part is just Tesla, posted an increase of 5.4%. Hybrids were up an impressive 46%, while plug-ins declined about 2%. And for the year, electrified vehicle sales are down over 5%, which normally is nothing to celebrate but with the overall market down 17% through October,... -
AEP Ohio giving a cashback on purchase of electric vehicle.
Just got this e-mail message from my local Nissan dealer.
As part of their effort to accelerate electric vehicle transportation alternatives throughout the US, Nissan North America is offering AEP Ohio customers an incentive offer toward the purchase of a new 100% electric Nissan LEAF.
Eligible customers can receive up to $6,000 cash back on the purchase of a 2020 Nissan LEAF or LEAF PLUS.
You may also qualify for up to $7,500 in Federal tax credit! That's up to $13,500 in potential total savings!
Prices start at $31,600 and these have a range of 226 miles. A Leaf wouldn't be my first choice for an EV but $13,500 makes it tempting to give up the Prius but then we are back into payments again.
Have any other localities seen offers like this?
