2022 Ford Mustang Mach-E To Boast Improved Range Over Current Model

The 2021 Ford Mustang Mach-E is the automaker’s first mass-produced all-electric vehicle, meaning that even though it’s been well-received thus far, there’s plenty of room for improvement. This much is obvious from former Ford engineer Sandy Munro’s recent assessment of the Mach-E following a complete teardown of the vehicle. And, as the owner of engineering consulting firm Munro & Associates, Inc. discovered from Mach-E chief engineer Donna Dickson recently, the 2022 Ford Mustang Mach-E will offer more range than the current model, too.

“These are the numbers where we’re at, but we have actions planned,” Dickson said. “It’s year-over-year improvement. So, we’ll go and get additional range-improvement actions coming in for ’22, we have more coming in for ’23, and more coming in for ’24.”

When even Dodge is planning an EV, internal combustion's days are numbered

This anecdote will date me: During the 1979 oil crisis, I was filling up my VW one day when an old guy on the opposite pump began bitterly cursing about having to pay $1.50 a gallon for gasoline — $5.60 in today’s money. He probably expected to hear a “damn right, mister,” but I nodded toward my car. Sure, I said, gas prices are nuts. But I get almost 30 mpg on the highway. If my choice is to walk 30 miles, a buck fifty still seems like a bargain.

This, of course, pissed him off even more.

One problem with humans is that our view of life is colored by where we’ve come from — our past experiences. As a kid, I remember “gas wars” in which competing stations sold regular for as little as 19.9 cents a gallon. That’s the world this man was from. First VW ID.4 Rolls Off Chattanooga Assembly Line

The first Volkswagen ID.4 electric car has rolled off the production line at the automaker's Chattanooga, Tennessee, factory, VW Group of America CEO Scott Keogh announced Thursday in a LinkedIn post. Mass production doesn't start until next year, however.

Finished in Glacier White Metallic, the first completed car is a validation build used to test out the assembly process and all related components. This is standard procedure for automakers ramping up production of a new model, and in this case could span more than 200 vehicles. Validation builds are not sold to the public, and are generally scrapped once they've served their purpose.
