Shoppers in Canada may wait nearly a year to buy new Chevy Bolt EV

The new Chevy Bolt EV was a long time coming, but interested buyers in some parts of Canada may have to wait longer.

Kent Wallace reported to us last week that Toronto-area dealerships were quoting shoppers an 8- to 12-month wait for the 238-mile electric car.

A GM spokeswoman in Canada confirmed the delay.

Last year, Canadian buyers snapped up more than 2,100 Bolt EVs and more than 4,300 Volts north of the border. Roughly 20 Bolt EVs are currently available in Canada, equally spread among LT, 2LT, and Premier trim levels.

Yesterday we told you about Honda's production launch of the all-new 2019 Insight in Indiana. That comes after the hybrid spent five years wandering in the automotive wilderness and following a $61.5 million investment to prepare plants in Ohio and Indiana for more electrified vehicles. Beyond the aero "tweaks", the truck has a hybridized drive train along with solar panels to power accessories.
The individual/company Shell is partnered with holds the record for fuel economy in a filled truck at 13.4mpg. He was only getting 4.4mpg back in the mid-80's when he started his company.

They plan to start a fuel economy run with this latest truck in about 3 days.
