Tesla to expand charging station program with Hilton hotels to up to 200 chargers

With the Supercharger network taking the forefront and now even the new Megacharger being announced, it’s easy to forget that Tesla has a third electric vehicle charging network: the Destination Charging network.

One of Tesla’s earliest partners for Destination Charging gives us an update on their expansion of the program.

While Tesla’s Supercharger network is made of DC fast-charging stations for long distance driving, the Destination Charging network consists level 2 chargers, more specifically the ‘Tesla Wall Connector’, installed at restaurants and hotels to charge once Tesla owners arrive at their destination, hence the name.

Tesla burning through $12,000 every minute amid Model 3 production woes

Tesla's chief executive Elon Musk said last week that the company is designing a new sports car that could go from 0-100 kilometres per hour in 1.9 seconds. Not bad, but there's another speed number that investors might want to focus on instead.

Over the past 12 months, the electric carmaker has been burning money at a clip of about US$8000 ($12,000) a minute or US$480,000 ($700,000) an hour, Bloomberg data shows. At this pace, the company is on track to exhaust its current cash pile on Monday, August 6 [2018].

To be fair, few Tesla watchers expect the cash burn to continue at quite such a breakneck pace, and the company itself says it's ramping up output of its all-important Model 3, which will bring money in the door. But still, its need for fresh cash came into high relief last week when Musk unveiled his latest plan to raise funds. He's asking customers to pay him upfront to order vehicles that may not be delivered for years.

Holden Wants Left-Hand-Drive Chevy Bolt For New Zealand

As one might expect, the anticipated sales volume for the right-hand-drive Bolt EV was too small for GM to consider the offering, and given what we have seen with shipping the car to LHD markets outside of the US, international volume may not really have been one of the original targets of production anyway.

But now the reviews are in and apparently demand is high, so Holden New Zealand is even willing to import the left-hand-drive version for sale (or to self-promote) … if only government would enable them to do so.
