TOYOTA (CANADA) TO BRING EV TRIPLETS TO EVS29 (Montreal)

Toyota announces plans to bring three different EV technologies to EVS29, which takes place in Montreal, from June 19-22.

On display at EVS29, billed as the “world’s largest EV conference,” Toyota Canada is planning to focus attention on three completely different electric vehicles – the 2016 Toyota Mirai Hydrogen Fuel-Cell Electric Vehicle, the new 2017 Prius Prime Plug-In, and the 100% electric personal mobility vehicle, the i-Road.

“Toyota has invested considerable engineering talent and other resources into developing vehicles that take advantage of state-of-the-art technology while also giving drivers compelling reasons to embrace them,” said Stephen Beatty, Vice President, Toyota Canada. “We’re deeply committed to this – and are constantly looking at the big picture – which we refer to as ‘right vehicle, right place, right time.’ This long-term thinking is embedded in Toyota’s DNA.”

Ontario makes solo HOV driving a PERMANENT perk for plug-in drivers!

Well, some good news for my fellow Ontarians, particularly those in the Toronto area...

Starting July 1, 2016, eligible vehicles with green plates will have permanent access to High Occupancy Vehicle (HOV) lanes on 400-series highways and the Queen Elizabeth Way (QEW), even if there is only one person in the car. HOV lanes are otherwise reserved for vehicles carrying two or more people.

Green licence plates

Not sure how they would regulate 'permanent'? At some point (likely far in the future) BEV/PHEVs will be far more common and they will need to repeal this. I can only imagine they will stop providing green plates and grandfather it in over time.

In any case, it is great news nonetheless.
