...in general IRS is obviously waiting to see fiscal cliff related tax rate changes...don't know if this impacts slow down in all forms.

I was researching buying a new Prius 2, and noticed that Toyota is giving a very nice incentive for the 2012s for the PiP. Is the 2500 federal tax credit still in effect for the PiP? Does anyone know if CT has any tax rebate for it?

hmm- Looks like the Plug-In America link is broken on the main post.

    Alrightly then,
    1. I see no incentives in CT (but someone chime in and advise me)
    2. Federal $2500 good for many years at current sales rates
    3. Yes there were incredible 2012 PiP deals in Oct-thru-Dec but I do not know if many 2012's left

Best deal according to my notes, a month or so back a Prius chat member in WV went to NY to buy 2 PiPs for ~$25,500 with $2500 Fed and $7500 WV credits he is paying $15500 net for two 2012 PiPs.

the only deals remaining are for Advanced models, $6500 in the northeast states. I don't think there are any base models left on the lots.

I just corrected that, it's suppose to be has not had. They're 2012s and the also have one advanced left. When I first bought mine, they had something like 28 PIPs.

We have 2 new Federal Incentives passed with the Fiscal Cliff deal for Plug_ins:

    From Plug-In America:
Well I guess the 2-3 wheeled credit is not of interest for PiP.

Are you talking about the $2500 Fed tax credit? I am not familiar with H&R Block. Last years Turbo Tax 2011 seemed to work fine for the credit, I just picked up Turbo Tax 2012 over the weekend, have not installed yet.

I have added OREGON to the main OP with the help of new PiP owner Ken Blake:

OR gives a tax credit of $750 for regular Prius as well as PiP and a second $750 tax credit is allowed for the on-board hybrid charging system (grand total = $1500). To qualify for a tax credit, you must have an Oregon income tax liability. But if you are an Oregon resident and you do not have an Oregon income tax liability, you may choose to transfer your tax credit to an Oregon resident who does! http://www.oregon.gov/ENERGY/cons/res/tax/docs/hybridform.pdf

I would love to add more states so, if you are willing, please summarize for your state and I will add to the OP.

I'm struggling to find a deal in New England similar to the deals that were around last fall. Sadly Rhode Island has no incentives too. All the Mass dealers seem to want around $28k for the PIP, but I haven't gotten to the point where i've contacted them yet. I could justify it if I could find one for $26-27k, with the $2500 rebate it would be a great deal imo

0% and $5,000 rebate sounds pretty good to me:

Toyota Incentives | Premier Toyota of Newport
If any dealers are offering some price discount too, then you are getting pretty close.

This thread is for clarifying state and federal government PiP incentives, but over on Price Paid for PiP thread, I made a post about possible Syracuse NY area discounts.

    OK Virginians!
The new info is Virginia is the first state to have a green car "Disincentive" coming: a $100/yr Prius Tax.
If you hold your PiP 10-years, VA wants $1000 of your $2500 Fed tax credit.
I will update OP when voted into law later this week.
