Feels like bump start when ice kicks in

    When my hv battery depletes to 39% charge, ICE kicks in harshly and stays on significantly louder than usual when car is stationary, including the bump start also to charge HV battery.

    I'll stick to my guns (previous post) and say there is something going on with the HV battery which was the CEL you provided.

    @Britprius is your 12v expert.
    A permanent battery should be agm with vent tube for safety.
    Not everyone agrees.

    For a temp, anything will do

    Ok so latest info.
    I think my egr solenoid is the one causing the issue.

    When i took solenoid off i just turned magnet back on to egr.
    But does anyone know how many turns or whether you turn all the way.

    As long as the black cap for the Egr valve is seated, you’re good;).

    While you had the cap off, did you manually activate the plunger?

    Ok. Just had it off several times. As soon as itook it off the cylinder thing spun anti clockwise so was clearly stuck down. So wound it off had a good look but couldn't find anything wrong. So i put it back on only turned it on to where the threads are full but cylinder is not stuck. That has at least for now cured the jerky hesitation in starting ice.

    Yes the plunger is totally springy and free with or without cylinder. It only sticks when you wind cylindet up fully that it sticks.

    Does this sound right.

    Although ice coming on rough is now smooth at standstill the engine still bangs and clatters.

    When deiving along its nice just standstill is a problem

    Ok so seems like setting egr solenoid up to be just done up to last thread where its still springs in and out has cured the rough ice transition

    Now all im left with is rough loud ice at standstill when its charging. Very strange as it drives so smooth, just standstill noisy ice left to sort

    Ok so was advised to clean camshaft and crankshaft sensors which i did today.
    Went over all of the egr and intake system to be sure i hadn't missed anything. The only thing i noticed odd was tbrottle body butterfly with engine off wasnt fully closed.
    It was slightly open and resistant if i tried to close it fully. Had a buzzing sound to it if i touched the butterfly it would whine.
    Hesitation in transition isnt 100% and is also intermittent. Engine still rough and clattery when charging again intermittently.
    Any ideas

    Getting really violent stalls now when at standstill when ice tries to turn off. Lots of engine clatter and difficult stall.
    Driving is absolutely fine
