    That's because of all the pooh pooh being digested from half cocked journalist's drama run ups. There's a certain naivety that finds easy/simple conspiracies such as in aliens & Kennedy assinations etc, migrating into some Prius owner's thinking unfortunately. Facing an imminent cease & desist? NHTSA encouraged? Link? I haven't seen such. It'd be appreciated if you can please find that one in. Seems that was one of a bunch of drama rumors though.

    You are not going to see a transcript of the meetings in Japan between NHTSA and Toyota staff because the meetings were not held 'on-the-record'. However, the off-the-record word in DOT legal circles in Washington, D.C. is that if Toyota had resisted the call for a production halt, a cease and desist order was going to be pursued. Likewise for a recall. Toyota could voluntarily order a recall or they would be compelled to recall.
