I just got a new to me 2007 touring. I pulled the cooling fan to make sure it was clean. There are 2 small filters on the duct going to the cooling fan. What are they for?

    SM-G955U ?

A common HV battery failure was debris/pet hair insulating the HV battery via the cooling fan and cooling fan ducting. The little filters/screens help keep some of the large particles from reaching the battery. And in theory they are serviceable with some soap and water.

Yes, and they were NOT originally installed from the factory. Most people made their own. I do believe Toyota finally came out with some filters later.....

@Stevewoods is correct not originally offered from mother Toyota, but they do come with a new HV battery from the Mothership or at least mine did. I would suspect by now Toyota is offering them as a stand alone part.
