They just called me to pick my cutting-edge XLE at around 2:00 PM today in Toyota Of Orange SoCal. It’s my daughter’s birthday gift, she’ll be more than happy after more than a month driving the rental that cost me a big chunk on top of the mark-up price.

All 2023 Priuses and Prius Primes have the identical key fobs and start buttons. The only difference is one-door vs. three-door touch unlock.

It’s my daughter’s birthday car present, she drove me to her school and I took it to drive around while she’s in class.

It’s a completely different animal compared to the C we had: comforting, quiet ride, looks like a Sport car AND drive like one. The turning circle is pretty tight too.

From $32,878.00 up to $42K out the door after tax, fees, license…PLUS $1,538 rental on top of it are a little too much BUT We’re happy. I’ve never thought I can get this car without waiting list like most people did. It was exactly 1 month (31 days) from 21st last month I put in $500 deposit.

If you’re tall like more than 6’ then it might be a problem. I’m very short 5.6 so it’s fine. My daughter is a little shorter than me.

I forgot to mention power seat only on driver’s side.

Congrats on getting the car! Seems you are one of the first around here… That’s amazing you were able to get one on such a short wait. (y)

Interesting comment about 6’ being an issue; did you have the seat raised, or even so when lowered? From what I have heard, even with the reduced headroom, 6’ in the front seat should not be a problem.

I am 6’2” and in my Gen 3 I have several inches above my head with the seat fully upright (the way I prefer it), but also keep the power seat lowered all the way. Lots of space. Even with 1.5-2” less headroom I feel would still be fine for me…. Google says the 2014 has 38.6” headroom in front vs 38.0” in the 2023, so the 0.6” difference shouldn’t be significant.

My bigger concern is the rear headroom, as I have two boys (15 & 11) who are trending to take after my height. o_O My car allegedly has 37.6”, whereas the 2023 has 36.4”, so the 1.2” may be more significant… we’ll see.

I will get a chance to see one in person at the Toronto car show tomorrow , and will be test-sitting this very closely. ;)

Getting in and out of a car isn't quite the same as sitting. The lower overall height of the car means you will be ducking or crouching lower.

I’m also curious… and nervous… about the head room in the front seat. I ordered a 2022 last May, having never test driven or even sat in one, all while knowing I would likely have to wait for a 2023. Primary driver of the Prius will be my almost 17 year old son who is just a shade over 6’4” and still growing. He’s mostly legs (36” inseam), so that might save us on the head room issue. But at his height, I’m still a bit worried. When I ordered last year, we looked at 2022 model specs for head and leg room and compared them to specs of other vehicles that we knew he could fit in. I’m just crossing my fingers it works out for my son as we currently share my car and we both look forward to not having to do that much longer. (Though, truth be told, I’m going to make excuses to drive the Prius as often I can. Lol!)
