It is not a good sign with only about 70 Gen 5 Priuses having arrived in the US on the first Ro–Ro. It looks like Gen 5 Prius and Prius Prime will mainly exist on paper and be very limited-production vehicles. :(

It's more than 70 (67 to be exact if searching 500 miles within Bay Area); I was bored and changed the zip code around different regions... northeast region, there's a few more AWD models available; but majority are still XLE FWD. None in Texas.

it's going to take time. production is still hampered. but if it is popular, there will never be enough to sit on lots

Perhaps they can't find the odd-sizes tires they specced. ;)

Wait...is an LE with grey interior and windchill really a rare config? Or sarcasm?

LE's are going to be rare until toyota is back to full production. so finding one with int/ext colors you want will be more rare

No, at the moment, I see 64 Gen 5 Priuses within 500 miles of Southern California, and none is LE, and none has a gray interior.

There was actually one red LE in Santa Monica, but it has already been sold. One XLE somewhere has also been sold; so, the number of Gen 5 Priuses is down from 66 to 64. Only three are Limited.

It would be poetic justice if nothing but the LE’s sell.

(Could be a moot point: Toyota.com still says "tire repair kit" for the LE. Any Priuschat members purchasing please check on that.)

Only a minority are showing as sale pending. So, most should be available to buy, albeit with a markup.

LOL Do you realize how much demand is out there to buy a new car?

    Sale pending: 15 XLE trims
Sale not pending: 46 XLE trims and 3 Limited trims
Sold: 1 LE trim and 2 XLE trims

It is not that. People need cars, but there are not any. Used cars are even more expensive than new cars. What would you do if your car was totaled—walk to work?

I'm purely speculating here, but I'm guessing that as the first cars arrive at dealers, they advertise them at super high markups and wait to see if people bite. A few people apparently did, but there are still lots of cars available. I'm assuming that the prices will come down to earth slowly as customers exercise self-control.

    One can hope anyway....

:) Still no Priuses in North Carolina.

Regarding the markups, I believe the 2022 Prius Prime is still selling with similar markups. So, it is not about waiting for the redesigned model to get cheaper but waiting for the supply-chain problems to subside. With only about 70 Priuses rolled off the Ro–Ro, there doesn't seem much hope.

It's more than 70 Prius that's coming to the US - you need to search other zip codes and will notice there are more 2023 Prius available. If you're just focused on California, then yes, we only have about 65 being built and shipped, which would mean it will take a long time to satisfy the California market where we all want hybrid due to high gas prices.

I just entered a New York City Zip code and searched for 2023 Priuses in a 500-mile radius. There are zero (0) available.

There are also none within 500 miles of Texas. There were only eight within 500 miles of Atlanta.

There were 17 within 500 miles of the state of Washington, interestingly ten of them being a Limited AWD.

So, perhaps the first batch is more like 100.

    Bad news:

I just contacted my dealer. They haven't got any 2023 Prius yet, and they will get only one 2023 Prius in February, which will be a Limited trim. They happen to be the largest Toyota dealer in the world by the way.

So, it looks like each US dealer will be allocated one Gen 5 Prius every other month! Good luck getting one! I don't know what is holding the production, but things are not looking good for the foreseeable future.

Gen 5 Prius is looking more like a demo car than a production car.
