First Prius, Four years in PriusChat!

    Brand New Guy here! Hello there!
    Hard to believe that I have been around PC daily for about 4 years and this is my first Prius. I was hoping for a 3rd Gen PIP, not in Florida, then a 4th Gen PIP, not until 2016; and Blah..Blah..Blah...

    I have about 4 months left on the Acura lease, so I picked up this 2011 TWO Toyota certified last Sunday. I drive it just as I drive the tsx, and some of you guys told me "Prius was slow", Not! :D

    Really, the car is great! I took those mpg screen shots usually at the end of the day after daily commute, a grocery run or home depot errands.

    Up to last Saturday, I called a few dealers in New York (Hometown), one in jersey and a few in Virginia to arrange a lease on a PIP and fly to pick it up.
    Dealers did not return my calls and after I left infos with the "chat" person on their website.

    So, I drove since leaving the dealer: 380 miles/51mpg average and with 75 miles to empty, it filled up only to 8 gallons exactly, even after 3 clicks.
    So, there was about 3.9 gallons left at 75 miles to empty?

    sounds about right. at zero dte, you would have about 2.5 gallons.

    First time filling up the Prius after 380 miles, at $3.16 a gallon, only took 8 gallons of gas for a laughable $25.00.
    The other guy averages 25-26 mpg on a tank, usually takes about 16 gallons of Premium with 65 miles to empty for a serious $60.00 bucks.

    Oh to have $3.16/gal. It's $5.30/gal up here for regular. It's $5.90/gal for premium or $94.47 to fill a TSX up here assuming 1:1 exchange rate (it's about 1.1x to the CAD at this writing).

    Be careful not to overfill the tank! 1 click is enough... or do the 3rd gens not have the bladder?

    No bladders. They figured it out with the '07 Camry Hybrid fuel tank (i.e. to get the AT-PZEV rating without a rubber bladder). The '06 HiHy/RXh used a pressurized tank that wasn't present in the Camry IIRC.

    I have read here in PC sometime ago that the small 12V Aux battery last about 3 years. This is a 2011 Prius Toyota certified with 77, 000 miles.
    Q? Is there an onboard screen similar to Gen II to check current state of the 12 Volt battery. I could not find a video instruction for Gen III.

    welcome to "non-lurker" status !!!
    I would guess most of us do it that way. I probably was a lurker for almost a year before buying our Prius, then signing onto PC for the 1st time.
    btw - the check current mfd isn't too accurate - and the OEM 12v Aux battery is notoriously weak. so it's best to just buy a non-oem one on or before the 5yr mark. After that you are definitely on borrowed time.
