The coolant lines to throttle body are purely to prevent ice-up?

Yes. There’s quite a velocity of air moving through the tb when accelerated in fact it keeps the tb pretty cool even on a warm day but when that air is sub freezing and icy it tends to freeze up the blade.
Sometimes not an issue if it’s connected to the gas pedal via a cable old school but throttle by wire
May be an issue where the motor freezes up.
I do not recommend this mod in up north states.

Draws air from the engine compartment as well. Not the front of the car.
Efficiently wise warmer air probably better, least during warm up.But power wise denser cooler air better.

The tire specs of 35 psi is for the stock tire(15"). The 16" tires have a max of 51 psi. I'm thinking the wider tire may be a tad underinflated. Do you think running the 16s at 42 psi all around would be alright? Thanks.

The 16" are lower profile than 15" I'd assume, to keep same Outside Diameter? The will tend to have harsher ride, need lower pressures. If fifteens are spec'd. 35/33 (front/rear), I'd speculate 16" would be something like 33/32. I would keep it to 36 or less. Besides jarring ride, higher pressures I suspect are harder on the bearings and suspension.

Yes, at this point they do look even, being only 4 months old.

The stock tires is 185/65R15. The Touring tire is 195/55/R16, which is what was on the car when I purchased it, and what I also replaced with 4 months ago.

The old ones were unevenly worn, because the Seller had scavenged them from other Prius' . Driveable, but getting close to balding.

I didn't get high 40's with my mpgs until worn suspension parts replaced, new tires and alignment. Tires that came with it worn out very fast and uneven. I bought a old 04 with 225,000 on the clock.

Um I run them at 38 I think. Anything higher and it hits little bumps like a stagecoach imho.
It’s a trade off from rut tracking and comfort.

I got talked into Goodyear triple treads last tire go and they suck. Very rough ride. Can not wait to go back to kumhos they had a very quiet soft ride. The triple treads are awful at 40 lbs.

One thing you need to pay attention too is bent g2 wheels. I have had 3 so far. When u get the tires changed
And the car is up on the rack spin the rear tires and look for even tiniest wobble as they spin. The front wheels don’t spin must use back wheels.
Then when the fronts are changed move them to the back and spin them too.
This is the best way to check for a bent wheel. Very easy to see tiniest run out. A bent wheel will drive u crazy.
    Should have no runout whatsoever.

G2 wheels are very light very small and get bent very easily. One good pot hole,

Thank you for that insight and experience. I'm definitely going to get the alignment checked it's just about the last thing for minor maintenance on my list.

I changed out the spark plugs this morning and I'm getting ready to take a hundred mile drive. We'll see if that makes a difference.

I drove the car out 50 miles and came back the same route, mostly Freeway driving. The 100 mile number is 40. 1 miles per gallon. This is 4 mpg better than what I was averaging before changing the plugs and increasing the tires to 42 PSI.

Perhaps it was my imagination, the handling was more responsive and (since it was mostly highway) I didn't really feel a lot of bouncing. In town driving may reveal something completely different. I'm curious to see what an alignment check will reveal.

Thank you everyone for all your input and experiences. It's nice to finally see a positive result!

George sorry but you should be able to do much better than 40.1

Having owned my 07 11 years I can tell you with certainty your hybrid battery is getting very tired.
A hit in mileage is stage one. That and tanking to one purple bar in a drive thru real fast.

Bulk of the power comes from the hybrid battery. Engine only supplies 72 horsepower when in tip top shape.

But it’s easily improved with a Prolong charger/discharger. It has not failed yet. I bought one when I hit 40.1 and with one very mild discharge was able to restore it to 50 mpgs. That was more than a year ago.
    So far so good.

Use search forums button up top and search Prolong Charger.

    There site is hybridautomotive.com.

Thank you for that tip. Before I spend nearly $700, the next item on the list is the alignment check.
