ATF exchange is pretty much as straightforward as an engine oil change, and battery exchange even easier once you figure out how to disconnect it, saving about $100. It does help to be limber or physically small-sized though, because the battery is tucked into a corner of the hatch compartment. When I switched mine out I sat in hatch area.

I can well understand not wanting to fiddle around with the PCV replacement; a fair amount has to be disassembled for access, which is why I recommend changing spark plugs at the same time.

    Transaxle drain and refill- $150
Inverter Coolant and Pump Campaign- N/C
    Alignment- $100
    PCV Valve- $100??
12v Battery-- $250? (That's what some people have reported)
Inspection-- N/C, since they'll usually do a free multi-point inspection.

    Total: $600

Yeah, I'm figuring I'll drop $600 tomorrow on Rudy. You know, for a car I've driven almost 4 years, with nothing but oil changes/tire rotations, that's pretty good, in my book. :)

Was everyone's guess supposed to be closest without going over?? If so, I'm going to pull a "Price is Right" and guess $1 :D

I would also add cleaning and adjusting the rear brakes to your list of services. This should add around $50.

We're home from the shop! :)

Okay, I can recommend Toyota of Olympia... not only did everything get done, but they double-checked one item, and went back and did another, without me asking them to... and, everything seems all fine (after about 75 miles).

Here's the rundown: (part & labor)
Recall work - water pump/inverter fluid - nc
    Alignment - 79.95
    Trans fluid - 154.95
... plus 47.50 and 9.84 (not sure what those are, but that's okay)
    PCV valve - 19.00 & 8.50
    12V battery - 138.70 & 47.50 & 8.08 (part, labor, and misc part replacement)

    Parts total: 241.45
    Labor total: 186.56

Plus they washed the car, left my floor mats and accelerator alone, and got it done a little sooner than expected :p

I've got the itemized receipt and the alignment printout attached.

Oh, grand total, with tax: 474.03

I've got enough left over for a 90-minute massage for myself!

Looks like you got a great deal:

    Parts: $138.70 battery + $39.36 Toyota ATF WS + $8.50 PCV valve
    Labor: $79.95 alignment + $47.50 transaxle fluid change + $19 PCV valve + $95 battery

The only questionable item would be the battery labor, but excellent pricing on all of the other items. I agree that this dealer's service dept pricing is quite fair.

Oh, and I forgot to mention, that they also flushed and filled the regular coolant, for no additional charge.

If you are referring to the engine coolant then you got an exceptional deal. The engine coolant would normally cost $45 and the labor would be an additional hour or $95.

Rae,...........thanks for the detailed report about Rudy's day at the spa. Sounds like you and he made it out unscathed. I agree with you.....4 years with nothing but oil changes and tire rotations is fantastic. Enjoy your massage!!!!

One of those "47.50" seems to actually be right where it says "Change engine coolant", so I think that was what that stray labor charge was. It wasn't free, just really cheap! :)
