a convenience store & gas station use way less electrons (& move them at slower speeds) than (say for example) a half dozen QC's that run at a minimum of 50kW's. Plus - charge speeds are picking up . . . . 2X - 3X as fast. no one want to sit around in BFE, for hours, charging at 3kW's. Google the cost of a big ol' transformer capable of meeting that kind of charge capacity (not to mention install) & you'll $h1P bricks. You'll have to sell a lot of donuts, coffee, soda, 40oz ol' Milwaukee to make that just break even. Good on him for trying.
    frigin @bisco . . . . always finding the upside

I admittedly did not read the whole article.....or look for any others.

I think it has been indicated in a post or two that he got a "grant" to remove the underground tanks.
If that is right, he would be rather stupid NOT to take that deal.......even if he never sells one penny's worth of electricity.

If that is true, I'm not sure it is a proper use of any dollars intended to promote electric vehicle proliferation.

    From the article.
"the area also has an electric taxi service in need of more charging infrastructure."

    From the OP cnbc article
sounds like the state and EVI wanted this, and were willing to pay for the switch. It doesn't detail max speed buy it sounds like at a minimum there are four 50 KW L3 DC chargers. The money sounds like its enough to environmentally remove the remnants of the gas station and provide chargers.

For reference, according to the US DOE, a typical gas station or fast food place uses about 75 kWe, a small hotel about 250 kWe. I don’t expect the QCs will be used 100% of the time. Doesn’t seem too extreme.
