The 3 vertical lights are known as the "clearance lamps" on Toyota's website. They come on with the parking lights and are just decorative (since the chevron or wishbone part will be lit along with the amber side parking lamp). The foglight is the one above the 3 vertical lights and come on separately.

Parking lights (amber side and the wishbone part above the headlights) as well as the 3 vertical clearance lights. Foglights are off.

    Now the foglights are on.

Does that stock fog light gives out any significant usable light or just for decoration mostly?

It is more noticeable than the Gen 2 or 3 for throwing near-field light but it could just be because it's LED now instead of halogen. The Gen 2 was definitely a decorative light. The Gen 3 at least points a bit towards the corner so the curb can be illuminated like my smart fortwo.

Thanks for the feedback. I'll pick up a set when they're available. Hopefully OEM won't be too much. There is a Chinese company making them but Chinese made LED isn't too reliable.

Sounds like a reasonable project to put on the list.

FYI: Got an email from the Chinese manufacture owner. He said they will start making (or copying) the fog lights for our Prius in 15 days.

If I get get them I will just wire it straight up without a switch. Will use relay and power the driving light to the side marker and the fog to the low beam light. This way when you start the car the driving light will be lit and when low beam on fog will also turn on. Yes, you can't turn them off but $400, I don't want to turn them off. Lol
Also cops here doesn't give a crap about fog/high beam. Besides I almost never use high beam in the city anyways.

Fair enough, however if you do get pulled on a traffic stop, you MAY get done, as the vehicle will no longer be type approved & breaks the Construction & use regs. Well it certainly would over here right pond. Also gives the insurance company yet another reason to refuse to pay out in the event of a fender bender. YMMV. G...

    munna,

Just joined today. I have 2009 Camry Hybrid, 2013 Prius 2, and have a 2016 Prius 4 Red, moonroof, park assist package on order. I had to choose between touring with 17" rims/fog lights, or moon roof. Wife wanted the moon roof.
The Camry has 176k on it with no issues other than normal maint. I did put on fog lights on the Camry.
I hooked up the relay to the side running lights, and connected to a positive source and ground.
Connecting to the interior stalk, or an interior switch was too much work, and decided just to tap
into the side lights. I figured I can install after market lights when they come available.

Installation is not a problem...getting the fog lights (for now) is.

Agree. Why is it not available from dealer parts dept.?
I mean they are making new cars with fog lights at the assemble plant, why are
extra parts not available for sale at dealer parts dept.?

It's on back ordered but you can order it...it just means it'll take a few weeks/months to get since the car is too new. The problem with OEM 2016 Prius foglight is the glass made out of pure diamond so it's out of my budget. That's like 1/2 the cost of my car!!!
