I have decided to sell my 2006 Toyota Prius Package #7. I paid over $30K for it. I'm asking for $25,300 firm which is the blue book for it. It is in excellent condition. It has just 3,800 miles on it. It has been garaged and I have gotten 2 oil changes each after 6 months. There is no damage to the car or has their been any accidents with it. The interior is Oak.

I can post pics if you would be interested.

I'm selling because I found a fully battery electric vehicle that I'm driving just about all the time. Being so I can get by with a cheaper 2nd vehicle than a Prius. (Once I went fully electric there is NO going back to anything with gas unless is absoultley nessecary because of a range situation)

I have taken very good care of this vehicle. It was my baby. I'm sad to sell it but want to have it go to someone who will be driving it more than I did. No sense in keeping it if I'm not driving it enough.

I do have a maintence plan for it as well as roadside assistance.

I do want to say that you would basically be getting pretty much a brand new car but at 5K less than I paid for it.

    I'm in Green Bay, WI

    Please only serious inquiries. Tracy

Wow. I'm sorry to see you sell but I'm happy you found an all electric that meets your needs.

Good luck and I hope your baby finds a good home.

Thanks I hope my price is fair. I feel it is because of the condition and I am going according to the blue book on it. I mean I understand I have to take a huge hit financially selling such a new car. I will just have to deal with it. However I just don't want to take more than a $5K hit. So I hope I'm at least being fair on my price.

Sorry my words seem kinda jumbled. I'm pretty sad right now about this decision.

Tracy, I can't believe you beat me to EV only! I'm very happy that your neighborhood EV is working. I wish they allowed them to go more then 35mph! If I could find one that does 50mph and with a range of 50 miles then I would consider the same!

Do you already have a second car and so the Prius is #3 and that's why you're getting rid of it? Or are you getting rid of the Prius and buying a second, cheaper car?

Too bad you can't just keep the Prius as the distance/occasional car. That would certainly be greener than the alternative.

    You'd be just like Darrelld.

Yeah for me a simple cheap NEV works. I'm on a main street of town within blocks of where I do business. I have been driving my NEV for over 9 months now. To me that has been enough time to know it's working good enough. I didn't want to make this move until I knew I would be ok. You do know about the Xebras right? They just announced a upgrade on it to go about 40mph and about 35-40 miles per charge. I know your wanting a bit more but maybe at some point you can even upgrade it further. Right now the upgrade for the longer range/speed is only $1,200.

I know about all the other EVs and I'm just glad I can make one I paid JUST $8,400 work for me. Cause to me it is also about saving money. I could never fork out $45K+ for a full size EV. I just don't need it.

Do you think I'm ok on my Prius price? I think I'm going to put it in the paper this weekend.

Does anyone have any suggestions on a new decent car I can get for around $10K? (After buying my first new car the Prius I'm spoiled on ONLY wanting new vehicles) I did get lucky with my NEV truck and saved about $3K buying a 2005 that was sitting on the lot. It had about 400 miles on it when I got it.

Somerville you just don't know HOW nice it is to be driving FULLY battery electric. BEST thing I have ever done in my 42 years on earth for multiple reasons! (financial, emotional, and for the FUN factor)

No I don't have another vehicle yet. I plan to get one. I just can't justify financially keeping a $30K car just sitting around only being driven very occasionally. It just doesn't make sense. I mean I could get by with keeping my beater 92 Ford Escort BUT at my age and financial status I don't want to be driving beaters anymore. (I did that for WAY to long)

I mean Darrelld is my EV idol but I have to be smart here. Actually right now I'm on my 21st day of ONLY driving electric. (I'm in a contest with 3 other guys to see how long we can go without buying gas) I do start up and move my Prius though so to make sure to keep the battery ok.

I'm just thrilled that I can make a $8,400 fully battery electric truck work for me. I now know I won't be sitting around waiting for something way to expensive.

I did pay cash for my Prius so I could keep it but it just doesn't make sense to me. I'm to frugal now. I mean I have spent $30 in gasloline in the past 9 months!! B)

I consider myself the spokesperson for driving cheap electric vehicles. I have even been in the newspaper 3 times about it. (Once on the front page) And then I was on the news too.

    I LOVE DRIVING FULLY ELECTRIC!!!!

    I can see your point.

And the Prius is more valuable to sell than the '92 beater.

But the Prius is also cleaner than whatever $10,000 new car you'd replace it with. And it's paid for.

    Tough choice.

You're lucky you have a choice. I have to have only one vehicle so the Prius is it for me until an EV equivalent is available.

Of course, being the spokesperson for driving a clean EV, how can you give up your Prius for a pure ICE? Will you slink out of town in the middle of the night so as not to be seen?

Yeah I definatly understand that the Prius is cleaner than any $10K car I can buy but I can't base it all on that. I have to worry about my pocketbook and pulling out $15K makes a difference to me. It's not something I have to do but feel I need to do. I'm really trying to pay off my business mortage and I'm already 3/4 the way in just 3 years. To me doing that is a bigger goal since I will be even driving a cleaner car. If I could get by without having a gas vehicle at all I would. I just don't see how I could do that long term since I can't go on the freeway with my Nev.

Yeah I guess I will have to slink out of town in the middle of the night. I don't know to many EV drivers that don't also have a gas vehicle though.

Oh that sucks because then wouldn't you have to wait for a PHEV? Or will a EV that can go 100-300 miles on a charge be enough? An EV even going 300 miles on a charge won't ever work for someone who had to go further than that. Well I guess they could rent a gas car if that would work for them if they needed to travel further?

I just wish I could get by without even having to have a gas vehicle.

I drive to Palm Springs every spring for a professional conference. And I have to drive to L.A. a few times as well. So being able to do that run without having to stop in the middle for several hours is something I'd like to do.

If I could have two, I'd own an EV for around town but still keep the Prius for longer trips.

So how many miles would you need to be able to drive and EV? Maybe you could rent a car for those occasions??

After what I went through when my car was in the shop to rent a car...if I had to rent a car likely I wouldn't go. I wouldn't go to professional conferences, I wouldn't go to classes, I wouldn't visit my friends. I just wouldn't go. Renting a car once a month is just no anything I'm going to want to do. Especially when I don't know what I'll get. (And it will probably be a GM POS that will aggravate my lower back.) Then there's the unexpected. When my brother is in time sometimes it's a phone call at 7pm to drive up and meet him. I can't rent a car after 6pm when there's no advance notice.

I also have to drive freeway speeds every day to get to and from work. So 65 mph is a minimum requirement as well. An EV1 would have worked for me. (I will only buy, not lease.)

I think 100 miles on a charge is a reasonable demand. It will come. It will probably be exceeded when it comes. When it is I'll be there. In the meantime my one and only car will be the Prius. Until there's a Prius plug-in. Then that will be my car. Until that future EV arrives. Then that will be my car.

Godiva, So you can work with having ONLY an EV with a 100 miles of range? If so what if you need to go further than 100 miles? What if that EV that goes 100 miles is $50K?

It would have to go at approximately 100 miles at freeway speeds.

Further than that I either wouldn't go or I'd fly.

$50,000 is out of my price range. In that case I'd keep my Prius.

But I don't think they're going to be $50,000. I think they're going to be competitively priced with the other medium sized cars. Just like the Prius, Camry, etc.

Hopefully the will be......someday. I'm just glad even though I can afford to buy an EV at $50K that I'm happy with what I choose to try to do and in the end it worked out great for me. I mean if I can pick up a gas car for around $10K then both vehicles I will have will less than $20K! To me that's a good compromise to justify having two vehicles. (one having a limited range and the other taking me wherever my heart desires) AND most importantly I don't have to sit and try to be a good girl waiting and waiting and waiting. B)

Also from what I hear any companies that come out with a full size EV will start with the higher price ones and hopefully move down in price. BUT who knows. I know the Phoenix is said to have a $45K price tag on it. The GM Volt I heard is going to have a high price tag. I'm just not much for waiting and waiting. I guess most people don't have a choice since what I drive in electric won't work for most people.
