    They're also work devices (theoretically - a lot of owners drive them single-occupant most of the time) and towing vehicles. You can get this sized truck with a 36 gallon gas tank. Even with an inefficient ICE, that's going to produce perhaps 300kWh or more of net output power, which this thing has 1/3 to 1/2 of that. That's the problem.

    We shall see.
    The payload and towing capability seem decent, as does the range.
    For a work truck, I expect it will work great.
    For a 'tow the boat to the cabin' perhaps not.

    Sales will tell us more about how much a 'problem' it is (unless Ford can't produce enough).

    I'm sure they don't have final epa numbers yet, but they said 13 mile/hr charge at 240V, 32A for the smaller slower charging battery. That works out to 1.7 miles/kwh or 57 mpge, a guy on insideEv is guestimating slightly higher around 2 miles/kwh. The weight of the battery pack is 1800 lbs, which leaves it with lower energy density than the tesla pack.

    My guess is while towing it will drop to about 1 mile/kwh.

    These are good numbers for truck drivers. Figure a gasoline f150 will get about 12 mpg while towing. At $2.50/gallon gas that would be $0.21/mile on gasoline versus what ever the kwh rate is on electricity. But really these electric trucks don't have the range to tow long distance, a phev pick up would be better for that. EPA has the 3.5L f150 awd at 23 mpg hwy, 18 mpg city. My guess is people that buy will save lots of money on fuel and maintenance compared to the most popular gasoline vehicle sold in north america.

    A friend had her catlytic converter stolen from her f150, and had to wait a month to get her truck back. None of those problems with bev trucks. She drives about 50 miles a day, and has never towed like most f150 buyers.

    My guess is ford will not produce enough to meet demand the first year. It probably will run out of the federal tax credit quickly. It sounds like a great work truck.

    @austingreen "$2.50 a gallon"? Where's that? We're in the $4.xx range here in California!

    what ... you must be new here .....

    dsc01606-jpg.png

    Folks would be in deep Bandini if they thought a Prius couldn't carry over ¼ ton of cow poo. Of course, a week later, don't be surprised if your passenger says, "man, you need to see a doctor"

    that's nice .... only thing is - where gas is high, $4 range, like in LA County, their population is about double the entire state of Colorado ... never mind the rest of the high priced counties. See, we are talking about where most drivers need efficiency to combat high gas hostage scenarios. thanks anyway for always being quick with the outlier statistics.

    I haven't bought gasoline in a year but that is how much it is in austin passed a pump this morning. Definitely electricity rates and gasoline prices vary considerably. Plug-ins make even more sense in california. Say $4/gallon gasoline and $0.20/kwh using my high estimate of california electricity and low estimate of truck efficiency 1.7 miles/kwh, and the epa combined of 20 mpg, the fuel cost difference alone is $12,350 over 150,000 miles in this truck. YMMV and your cost are higher for both.

    Speaking of outliers, it's pretty crazy in South OC;

    Where's my bike tire pump?...

    When we ordered solar back towards the end of '12 tier four (easily attainable in the summer months) was $0.41/kW. Predictions I guesstimate should be $0.50/kW by now. Instead it DROPPED, three tiers now AND tier three is $0.11/kW (pre-tax/non-adjusted).

    (Better go see if my wife wants to put $100 down on this F-150. She's playing with cryptocurrency anyways)...

    Liquid dripping shoveled from the barn horse manure- then the chicken manure and for good measure a load of pig manure. You will also be driving though a field to access the barn and different animal crap piles in their pens. Good luck on hauling this in a Prius or any car

    I owned a 2008 Prius for 12 years as you know. I have also hauled similar loads as shown in your photo

    Government here in Virginia speaks with forked tongue promoting EVs while adds registration surcharge on vehicles getting more than 25 miles per gallon of fuel.

    from the OP's video - seeing a 8,200Lb trailer (likely an easy 10,000 once loaded w/ food, supplies, clean & grey water) being pulled is pretty slick advertising -

    upload_2021-5-23_7-12-38.png

    wonder how it'd handle a 20,000Lb 3 axle 5th wheel.

    Could have sworn I saw a Tundra pulling a space shuttle? Maybe Ford should try a 747...
