free check up & oil change at dealership

    Anyone uses the free checkup & oil change at 10K and 20K miles at the dealership? Is it worth it?
    Will they let you take the oil & filter and do it yourself? I rather do it myself for piece of mind... I don't trust those 1st tier oil change tech sometimes. I heard stories where they forgot to put the oil in when doing oil change etc..

    I get free life time oil changes, tire rotations, and car wash's at Lone Star Toyota in Lewisville Texas. I check oil level before I leave and its alway's clean and right at full mark. They never try to sell me something I don't need and car gets checked out every 5,000 miles. To me thats piece of mind. Along with bumper to bumper extended warranty. 66,000 miles no problems at all.

    i doubt they'll give you the parts, the oil is bulk and they have a deal with toyota, they get paid for the labor.
    my dealer overfilled mine both times, so i had to pump some out. other than that, they were okay.

    I've had too many bad experiences at dealer service depts so I prefer to do all my own maintenance.
