I think your best bet for getting the book now will be to watch E-bay closely. The rare book dealers have, for the most part, never heard of this and those that I contacted (about 8 of them) never found a copy before I did (I've had one for about a year or more now). One cocky sob pooh-pooh'd my $50 offer for paying price if he found one and was a real snobbish nice person about it.

You'll not find a copy via the ISBN number--it's a Japanese publisher. I've tried contacting that publisher via several different e-mail addresses and direct online with no success and I'm sure it's not being printed any more. It was only privately printed for Toyota and was never sold nor distributed, except by Toyota, in the USA.

The Japanese version is also out of print...I've tried.

Perhaps someone would scan a copy and make it available for all us that were too late.

The book is 387 pages long. That would be a difficult scan.

Well, it would take a little time - but you would become a big hero around here if you did it. :)

I think a letter writing campaign to get an e-book version online might be wiser. You can be pretty sure that there already exists an electronic version of this book somewhere. Indeed, this is how printing works in this day and age.

Maybe, Hideshi Itazaki or SHIMBUN, LTD. could offer that ebook for download.

This would cost the company a lot less to send out. Re-printings can be expensive.

when i bought my beetle there was a book on the history of the beetle (which is pretty interesting because of the whole hitler thing) but that was sold in bookstores in the "automotive" section. lots of cars have books written about them, but they are usually cars that have been around for years and years, like the corvette or porsche or something like that. not many books written about sedans.

And not many books about cars that have -- so far -- only sold about 300,000.

If a letter writing campaign is initiated, or an email campaign, I'll be glad to add my voice.

How do we get started? Does anyone have an email address or snail mail address?

(Personally, I think a snail mail letter would have a bigger effect.)

Well you're 3 years too late I'm afraid and I don't think anyone's willing to give up the book.
