Received mine yesterday, about 10 days processing and snail-mail time.
    Nice looking card.

Just in case some of you missed getting the free Earth Day Charge Point Card.

About a month ago, when I was at one of the free charging stations, without a card and without an online account set up:

the person helping me on the phone, activated the charging station for me, and said he could send me a card if I wanted, and I said yes - and received a free card without paying for it- (took about 2 to 3 weeks before I received it).

I don't know if that is their normal procedure, but just saying it still might be possible to get a charge point card for free (but not an earth day one). :)

Received mine yesterday (6 days), stopped for a charge, and drove my entire commute on EV. If I only could charge @ work. IMG_0455.jpg

According to customer service, if you order online there is a FEE but if you order with a humanoid it's FREE!

I actually called last week to have the $4.95 refunded.

    Re: Charge Point Card

Is the point to get the card to activate Free Chargepoint stations or to charge at $1/hr?

At $1/hr, you should be able to charge 12 miles in 1.5hr at 240V on the charging station, which comes out to $0.125 per mile.

In hybrid mode, with gas at $4/gallon and 50mpg, it is $0.08 per mile.

Gas is cheaper at $1/hr rate. $3/hr is criminal.
    Please check my math.

The point of the card is to allow you to use both free and fee-based ChargePoint stations.

Mike, where was that ChargePoint? I tried using the one at the 99 in Easton, when we ate there, but it was "ICE"d, asked the manager if he could do anything, nope... They haven't figured out how to mark the 2 spots yet. Anyway I stopped by later that night and tried it quickly, as I've had my ChargePoint card for nearly 2 years and never used it ... It worked fine. FYI, 11 of the 99's have these, National Grid did the leg work to apply for the DOE grants, and get them installed.

I got 2 Chargepoint cards. One for charging my pip, the other to connect my laptop to the 120volt remaining outlet. Since the Pip shuts power off to accessories after a few minutes. Haven't tried to use it yet. Stay tuned. Plus, in the wintertime I can use a quartz heater to stay warm inside my pip.

I emailed to have the $4.95 refunded and got the following rejection response, maybe I need to call them?

"Our EarthDay promotion ended on Earth Day, April 22nd. Prior to registering your card serial number in your driver account, you will have 10 grace sessions on 'free stations'.?

I guess that this deal is better than the $4.95 any way...

Someone mentioned that another connection can be made on the chargepoint station by opening a door, is that the small door in the front? And what initiates the door opening ? Another card? Also, instructions say to tap card to start charge procedure, exactly where? My hit and miss system generally gets there, but I would like to be more precise. TY.

Yes, another card if you're using one of em to charge your pip and the other one for laptop, or in winter time, a quartz heater:D

Right in the middle of the unit under the words "Chargepoint". There are logos for various cards, and the "hot spot" it right in the middle. http://www.chargepoint.net/images/img-cp-card.jpg
