For Sale FREE Gen1 Steering Rack, Lock nut failed

    Toyota recall service screwed up the lock nut replacement and it loosened. Steering rack doesn't auto return after turning (can't remember left or right but 1 side only). Other wise, the rack is perfectly working.

    If you know how to fix this lock nut (new one to bite down tighter on the threads, tack weld?), then this rack can work perfectly again. Or if you just need parts (rotation sensor). Here is detail on the design and how it fails

    Yeah, the pinion-nut recall replacement technician instructions were a bit of a white-knuckle affair. You get one chance with the new nuts, after which it escalates directly to replacing the rack.
