the buttons on the lower right side of the steering wheel do not work when level. if i turn the wheel 90 degrees to the left the 3 buttons now work. turn it back and they are not working again. is there a cable connector inside the steering wheel that need to be properly seated? i can live with this as the console controls work but it is annoying. also the controls on the left bottom steering wheel work in all positions. thanks.

Had the same problem with the wife's '07. It was the spiral cable. I changed it because I couldn't be sure if the air bag would work or not. It wasn't hard at all, but you do need to be careful to keep the right orientation with the replacement cable. I bought a used one from someone I trust who kept it properly aligned. I think it took about 20 minutes.
