My steering has started to shimmy just a bit so I took it to a local repair guy. He told me the wheels were OK and the front end was tight. He thought the problem could be the front drive axles need to be replaced ($560.00). He said I was in no danger if I wanted to wait until it got really bad.

    What do you all think?

    Thanks,
    Bruce

I'm not a mechanic but a front end shimmy would likely be one of two things: 1. Wheel out of balance, 2. Loose ball or tie rod joint. I cannot see how the axle would be the cause unless there's something funky going on with the CV joints.
