Front shock absorbers alignment?

So I replaced the front shocks as one of them had failed. What I didn't note, when taking the springs off, was the relationship alignment of the top cap (where the spring meets) to the fixed bottom (again where the bottom of the spring meets).

Anyone any suggestions or hints as to what markings to look for to align these up?

Never found this on any other car before.
