I have been driving 2013 model for five months. i noticed that whenever any front wheel rolls over cat-eye on the road and any sudden small bump then it generates noticeable clicking sound. i went to the dealer and they said it is normal and comes with all such cars.

do you think that it is a true with all 2013 prius or any gen-III model?

BS on the dealer's part. Mine has never clank, clinked or otherwise. It might be your brake calipers. There were problems with the 10 and 11 HB. They add shims to help things out.

    Welcome aboard by the way!

I agree that it is BS. Take it to a different dealer to look at. Drive with them in the car so they can witness it first hand.

I have the same thing with my PIP and I had it with the 2011. It's the bottom of the front outer brake pad ends hitting the caliper bracket.

There is a TSB for the 2010's for front brake chatter. I am not sure if this would apply to your 2013. I would think this fix would have carried over to newer cars.

You can apply the TSB if you want, but the clacking comes back, unless you also lube the spots I indicated in my previous post. I used a heavy paste silicone lube Delco makes for brakes, and it's been about 1000 miles and the noise I was hearing is about 75% gone.

I had a similar noise on my 2005 and my 2012 Three. I can't remember if the PIP does it. I've gotten so used to the sound.

I couldn't, that's why I wanted to find out what the noise was. Going down a quiet street with the windows open was like fingernails on a chalkboard.

I regularly drive dirt roads with my 2010 and have the brake clicking and chatter. It's never worried me so I haven't brought it to my dealers attention.

So this is in addition to the drive and brake release on bumps? That chatters. Come to think of it, the streets here are so bad I get a lot of rattling. I was wondering what was loose, my teeth or something on the car? ;)

Well you're not supposed to be driving with your wheels on the centre line! And when you cross it the game is to do so while missing the reflectors. ;)

If you listen closely, it is the wheel covers that you hear when you go over bumps, remove them and see if the sound goes away

PIPs don't have wheel covers, but they still have the rattle. In my case, it's the outer brake pads hitting the caliper brackets.

If you look at my avatar I also don't have wheel covers. They're hanging on the garage wall and I'm pretty sure I can't hear them when I'm driving. ;)
Do keep in mind the rocker panels are plastic and quite flexible. They could also contribute to strange noises. But the brake backer plates are probably the culprit.

I've got an appointment for this exact noise along with my 5000 mile service at the dealer this weekend. I'll let you know if they do anything. I hope they do...

    *UPDATE*

I was asked to take the technician on a test drive to verify the noise. He heard it and was shocked a car with only 5k on it was doing this. He put the car on a lift and was able to recreate the noise but hitting the tire with a dead-blow hammer. He pulled the wheels and dissembled the brakes. I was shown that there was a lack of grease between the pad and the caliper saddle. They applied grease to the saddle and caliper slide pins and performed the 5k service. I took the technician for a final test drive and the noise is now gone.
