I have a 2015 Prius Three, and I noticed the other day that the door to the fuel tank doesn't shut properly anymore. Usually it clicks into place, now it just hangs loosely without clicking.

I believe there is something missing on the inside of the fuel door, next to the gas cap - something that usually catches the door.

I have done a bit of research, but I'm unsure exactly what piece is missing. I checked and it doesn't appear like anything is broken.

    Can anyone help me out?

FInd someone with same car and ask to look at theirs... Or even more ideal find a nearby auto wrecker that lets you pull parts off vehicles and grab whatever is missing.

    Yeah you’re missing something.

Does the black bit unscrew? Maybe the light grey bit has fallen down behind?

Bad timing for this problem. With the high cost of gas, thieves where I live are starting to siphon gas from cars.

Maybe someone already tried! And broke the pin in the process!

The obvious answer is that your car is asking to be fed more.
It craves the taste of high priced fuel.

It rotates, but it does not unscrew per se. Do you know what part this is? Is this something I can order and replace myself without too much trouble? Or is this something an auto mechanic should fix for me?

Thank you for the links to the parts. How difficult is this to install? Is it something that most people without much car knowledge can fix themselves? Or should I take it to an auto mechanic to get it installed?

Check youtube. It should be fairly easy. All the panels pop off..
