Do a google on it... a rare storm that caused much damage of a 600 mile swath a couple of weeks ago...

Markabele, look at some pictures of the recent PGA golf tourney at Congressional played during the storm. Some of the trees uprooted were *massive*

Some of those trees are big enough that they have obviously survived well over 200 years of storms. That kinda puts the force of the winds in perspective.

    ChipL,

By all means, fill up when you are comfortable. The message I was hoping to get across is that if you are in doubt on how far your car can go on a tank of gas, you can quickly estimate it and still have a safety cushion. I understand wanting to ensure you have at least 3 - 4 gallons of gas in your car at all times, because there might be a time where you are low and gas isn't available for a few days.

6 years later and a 2014 Prius Two with 30k miles still has ~3 gal in the tank when it's on the last blip of the fuel meter.

I noticed today the when the last pip starts blinking, the corresponding miles left are not the same every time. Last tank had 18 miles left, today 23 miles left. Does the computer facture driving style?

I assume it's based off your calculated MPG in the trip computer.
