I'm looking to run a fuel system cleaner through my car and I don't need anything super strong. What I'm really looking for is the preventive maintenance treatment. What would y'all suggest, the Lucas with upper cylinder lubricant, the rislone fuel injector cleaner or something else? I plan to run the treatment through every 3k to 5k miles too.

CHEVRON TECHRON is the best. Just try one container. Available at most auto parts stores. Perfectly safe for your car.

That just so happens to be what most car makers recommend for routing maintenance.......and is exactly what the dealers use.......even though it has a different label and costs twice as much !!!

A Toyota dealer told me it is the best years ago and I have been using it for a long time. I live in the Chicago area where they use the boutique blend of gasoline in the summer and that stuff will clog things up. I put a container of CHEVRON TECHRON in my car about every six months and it sure makes it run better and my gas mileage always rises a bit when I use it.

I use what Toyota recommends, nothing.

An excellent product IF heavy duty cleaning is needed.
It has several different solvents in it and does an excellent job.
It is my cleaner of choice for things that sit idle part of the year but I haven't convinced myself yet that it is really needed for routine use in everything.
I believe that Techron has a tiny bit of lubricant for injectors which B12 lacks.

That's what every auto manufacturer recommends. :p

B-12 may be a bit overpowered, but cost-wise, it's a better deal. Any off-the-shelf additive will cost you $2-4 a bottle. B-12, if you don't want to use the whole thing, can be rationed out. On my motorcycle (6 gallon tank), I usually use no more than 1/2 a bottle, maybe 1/3 if I can eyeball it just right.

It has an excellent shelf life.

Iv always heard that techron is great. When i bought it it had 6 month old gas, in it and wasnt running great and i added a techron to it. I think ill add another one to it after my first oil change and do it for now on when I do my oil changes. Thanks for the answers.

Not exactly true. The Malibu I just traded in recommended a fuel system cleaner periodically.
I suspect that a lot of them do.
