I'm in Colorado, where it's been cold (highs in the 30s-40s). My PIP is garaged, so temp is higher, probably in 50's. After an overnight charge, it shows less than 10 mi EV on the full charge. Not sure why, or what I can do about it. I could obviously be getting more miles than that, as I do a lot of mixed driving, including a 3 mile downhill to get from my house to anywhere in town (I use 'B' and probably add a 1/2 mile EV or so from the downhill regen). Still, is there anything else I can do to get my full charge higher?
it's just an estimate based on passed driving. you're getting a full charge no matter what it shows. everyone's is down this time of year because the cooler/colder weather takes more power for the same performance. mine is down 20% since late summer. both the estimated ev range on the icon after charging, and my actual ev distance on my same commute. all the best!
This topic is really getting annoying. Sorry, but my estimate was 11.9 miles this morning... yet it delivered over 13 miles. The number is just an estimate. It guesses about what you'll actually get... which changes over time, especially as the seasons change.
You can also reboot, that will bring it up to 15+, but it is only temporary, lasting 4/5 charges. Calculate your actual range, that is more productive. Remember to ride those brakes often for max recharge.
argghhh! it's so frustrating when ppl don't read, or search the threads for this same question. How many threads are there now for this EXACT QUESTION???????
I think the EV/PHV community will be dealing with these types of questions for many many years to come. Even if we "stickied" a topic at the top of the forum, I don't think it would help since most people don't even "search" on the first page. I've answered this question many times myself. There are days when I have the patience, there are other days I don't. Luckily we have a decent number of "enthusiasts" and regulars who can and are willing to answer when others aren't.
I'm a cashier at my local Grocery store, I sometimes work the express lane, often I have to tell ppl. this is an express lane even though there is a sign stating express only 15 items. Also my parking spot at my apartment is marked with my parking spot number but people still park there (with a warning sign stating your vehicle will be towed) I wonder do people really pay attention or are they faking it just to take advantage of the system?
I think mostly its people just don't pay any attention. It blows my mind when friends/relatives/co-workers ask me about some problem they're having on their computer/phone/etc but they dont even bother reading the error message that pops up in its own window.
Some just plain don't care. Note how many people flick their cigarette butt, even though there's a proper place to dispose of it right next to them. Same thing with bike paths; some people ride in the street next to them, despite the obvious safety risk. Need there be mention of monster-size guzzlers... ?
Our society is changing a lot, less thought for others. Definitely less thought in seeking information, with the computer, there's no excuse. I also a getting to the point of not responding to the same question.
BUT, For first time Prius owners I can understand thier bewilderment. After owning my Gen 2, I just jumped into the PIP AND DROVE OFF, like I had had it for years, totally familiar. But not all of us are in this position. And for old codgers it must be even more of a quandary.
Actually B in EV mode does a stronger regen than D. Counterintuitive for those coming from a regular Prius, I know.
