So it's wrong for the people of a country to fight against another oppressive group to maintain their own sovereignty?

    M. Gandhi was who and when and where. I have not read any re assessment claiming that a different approach could have removed British yoke from India sooner or with less damage.

Gandhi said a lot about many topics, but I do not find that he proposed his world view to best respond to things that had not yet occurred. If we lack a Gandhi equivalent now, it is not because he was wrong for his time and place.

We may lack a Gandhi equivalent now, espousing never to harm another, as 'civilization' twists otherwise. But that lack cannot be ascribed to him.
