Just got my new prime this week!

I was wondering if it has a built-in garage door opener like some other prius models, or if I just gotta stick with the old-fashioned clicker from my old car.

It would be built into the rear view mirrow.

    Congrats on your new Prime.

I would have thought the mirror with the garage door openers would come on all Prime.

Likely you are then, that's traditionally where it is.

Discussing this stuff keeps us off the streets, but yeah: crack your Owner's Manual, and all will be revealed:

    Congratulations on your new Prime.

The fancy auto-dimming rear view mirror with the "Homelink" controls is only on the Advanced trim version of the Prime. This is excerpted from the Prime marketing brochure which lists all of the features of the Prime and what comes with which trim:

    Homelink-Mirror.jpg

By the way, I've never seen an actual hard copy of the marketing brochure, but there is a PDF available and it's really a nice 26-page "glossy" document with great pictures and lots of information. You can download it from Toyota here:

    https://www.toyota.com/priusprime/ebrochure

This is also very useful to email to friends and relatives who want to know what the heck kind of car you just bought. :)

I couldn't find a printed brochure at any dealer in CO. When I bought a Prime in the northeast, brochures were readily available in NY and ME

I'm surprised that Home Link doesn't come standard anymore. It has been around a long time and came as standard equipment in my 2004 Hyundai.

You might be able to get a brochure mailed from Toyota USA? I've gone that route before with Toyo Canada.

No need as I picked one up at every dealer I visited in NY and ME. I must have 6 or more. Maybe there's a market for them on eBay?

^ This. It is not the end of the world to have to clip a traditional clicker on the visor. That's what we did till my son finally took pity on me, helped me program the #$%# #7&*# :cautious: #@VV#5  HomeLink thing.

Back in the mid 70's I took a Sears garage door opener and put a small jack in it. I mounted a push button switch on the dash and ran the wire into the glove box and it plugged into the opener. If I wanted the opener I could unplug it but I just left it in the glove box and it worked great. A little DIY.

Can you send your son down for a visit and program mine? I’ve tried, but “no joy”. Wonder if my 26 year old garage opener is just too old technology?
