:eek:Since purchase, I've had one gas fill up at 694 miles. That was four or five weeks ago and it's still full. My EV ratio is 65% (1100 miles) and will continue to increase. I realize I'm carrying a lot of dead weigh for weeks. For those with high EV mode use, what's your recommendation with gas fill ups? I'm thinking no more than fives gallons for daily commute and around town.

Just so you know this is from the owners manual.

    Notice about fuel

For plug-in hybrid vehicles, fuel may remain in the tank for a long time and
undergo changes in quality depending on the how the vehicle is used.
    Refuel at least 5.3 gal.(20 L, 4.4 lmp.gal.) of fuel every 6 months (refuel a
    total of at least 5.3 gal. [20 L, 4.4 Imp.gal.] over a 6-month period), as this
may affect components of the fuel system or the gasoline engine.

Yea! I think having a few gallons of gas is all you need most of the time. :)

I think if you don't put in 5.3 gallons of gas every 6 months the car will run like a regular prius until you put in 5.3 gallons.
If I am all wet, someone please! correct me. :)

:)Six gallons in six months won't be a problem. With more miles, I'll have an idea of actual gas consumed. Just don't want to haul too much around.

I fill the car up, since I'm using about 6-7 gallons every two weeks.

I just fill mine all the way full each time. thought about doing half fill-ups but I don't think the benefit is worth the hassle of having to visit the gas station more often.

:)Since I now drive a Prius Plug In, everything counts. I incurred a negative when I replaced my 15" factory wheels and tires with 17" Prius 5 wheels. With more miles, experience, and tips here, I'll find my happy place. Not wanting to be "consumed", rather a informed and conscious Prius owner.

No, it doesn't do this. What if you had a full tank and used just 1-2 gallons over 6 months. How could you put in 5.3 gallons? The only thing in the manual is that after 200 km (124 miles) of EV the gas engine will come on and run a full warm up cycle. Note that if you shut off the car to try and stop the warmup, the next time you power on the ICE will start. This just happened to me a few days ago.

If it does not matter, then I don't understand why toyota say's you have to put in 5.3 gallons of gas at least very 6 months. Then it does not matter if I only put in 4 gallons in a year correct! What am I missing. Is it they are just concerned that my gas will get old? I don't mean to disagree with you, I just don't understand.

I guess the Toyota owners manual is just suggesting that I put in 5.3 gallons of gas every 6 months. Sorry.
3PriusMike, Thanks for your feed back!

IMO, it is a suggestion just like the oil change interval.
