Gas on to heat car - does it defeat the purpose

7F here this morning- damn straight I started the ICE before heading off to work. Still ended up at 70+ mpg by the end of my commute.

One thing that came up in one of the "running the ICE to heat the car" threads was the question of how to lock the Prius from the outside while it's in "ready" mode so no one steals it- You can't do it via the FOB- you need to remove the physical key from the FOB and manually lock the Prius from the outside like the cars of yesteryear. Also- once locked using the physical key- the FOB won't unlock it either- you need the physical key to unlock it again.
