I just tried that today as well, with the same result, in response to a neighbor's challenge. He was disappointed.

I also tried putting the car in B, thinking additional engine braking wouldn't hurt, but the engine responds to throttle input in B, just as it does in D, so the only tactic that will work is to put the car in N. You have to hold the shifter there for a bit until it decides you're serious about putting it in Neutral.

I've never had a problem with my floormats, other than the hassle to get them out of the clips. I was hoping we'd get new (i.e., clean) floormats out of all this, but I guess not:pout:

Could GenII work the same as GenIII?

In GenIII, the fastest way to Neutral is by trying to shift to Reverse. At any significant speed, it knows this is an error and immediately shifts to Neutral with a double-beep warning. No one-second delay.
