    Hello PC

I do not know if people have noticed that the Gen 2 AC ( 2005) is way colder than the Gen 3 AC (2015 ) . Has anyone experienced this ? I just want to confirm that it is not just me

I have a 2015 Prius, AC doesn't feel anywhere near as cold as on my 2012 Nissan Altima or wife's 2013 Nissan Rogue. I was going to have it checked at next service. I bought the car used, so just figured it's the nature of the car.

It seems in the gen4 you need to run in power mode, I just stared to, I was concerned about how bad the air conditioning was in Eco mode, my gen 3 (wife has it for summers) is the perfect vehicle to travel with a dog, leave it on and the dog is fine, the gen4 was becoming problematic, but with power mode, it now works, summers, traveling with a dog

As far as the difference between gen2 and gen3 air conditioning, there is none, I'm assuming the op was forgetting about the first generation of prii.

Does the '15 have the three mode buttons, EV, ECO, and PWR? If set to ECO the A/C will be slightly less aggressive in cooling the cabin. Probably already know that. Could be reduced airflow because of a filter that needs replacing. Could have a leak too. I think my 2008 A/C worked about the same as my 2011, which for here in AZ in the middle of summer is pretty darn good. My 2011 did have a compressor failure a year ago though. Out of warranty. Shucks.

Thanks for the advice..... I am usually on ECO mode most of the time. I will put on power mode and see if this makes a dramatic difference. That is good to know. Thanks everyone for your input. I do not think this relatively new car has a AC leak.

i run eco all the time, and feel the a/c has been as good or better than my '08, up to about 98 degrees on the highway, high humidity and full sun.

Gen 3 introduced an ejector-cycle evaporator design.

I believe PWR only affects the response curve of the accelerator pedal. You can try it out though. I usually leave the modes off, or NORMAL.
