Anyone attempted doing this? Wiring in some lights under the side mirrors to turn on with dome lights as the car is unlocked - or when the smart key is sensed and the interior lighting comes on?

I know the Gen3 has it and you can order the turn signal mirrors for the Gen2 and they have it...but I don't want to spend that much on turn signal mirrors.

Also..best place to connect the wiring? I keep hearing of a 'magic blue wire' - any advice?

Couldn't find anything about the Gen2 but more on the Gen3. DIY JDM style side mirrors combo lights (Signal+Parking+Courtesy lights) | PriusChat

    Might try this approach:

Thought This would be a good place for the lights.

One Nice thing is they are waterproof...so I'm not concerned with moisture getting into the side mirror. Pretty bright on initial testing...

Plan on it. Currently the LEDs are mounted in the mirrors and the wiring is rounted thru the mirror into the door, but I haven't routed the wiring thru the door thru the rubber wire loom into the cabin.

Last night I attempted to locate the wiring from the dome light under the dash. No luck. Found it again in the pillar but didn't feel confident tapping in there.

Ended up routing some wiring from the dome light down the B pillar and up to the dash area where I'll connect the LED wiring after I route it thru the rubber wire loom in the doors. Once I have it completed, I'll show more how I connected it all.
