Gen3 2010 2011 Headlight bulb longevity - upgrade to HID?

    3000K halogens maybe, but not the HID you have pictured. HIDs would melt the housing of the oem type foglights the poster above is installing.

    In addition, HIDs should not be installed in the reflector type oem foglights because they'll have massive glare due to the lack of a physical cutoff shield to block stray light.

    Is this based on your specific VIN/Did you enter your VIN?

    I believe it goes away per VIN if applied…

    I can’t take credit for this @ChapmanF I believe explained that this was an Al length of wire which increased resistance and hence decreased voltage across the bulb. Less driving voltage/power means longer bulb life.

    OSRAM is getting close there are LEDs that are legal in certain countries per application BUT no H11 version sadly…
