I'm very close to picking up a new prius 2. I'm getting close to $5,000 off sticker, and (after some back and forth) they're including 6 yr/100,000 $0 deductible platinum Toyota warranty for the equivalent of $580, and gap insurance for $299. All in all, I'm content with this deal. Should I go for it, or will I be better off waiting for the 2016? I'm quite sure the deal won't be as good on the 2016.

I'd pull the trigger, not many improvements slated for the 2016,the deal your getting now will not be offered on the 2016.

final OTD out the door price (TLD)? I paid $24,200 OTD on a package 3. Your not doing a lease? I think i would personally wait for the 2016. it is completely redone from the ground up.

^^^ do you have insider knowledge that the Gen4 will be released as a 2016 and not a 2017? No one knows anything about the Gen4 unfortunatley..... No details, nothing as evidenced by all the guessing threads. Lol.

I'd say but it, enjoy the great mpg now and knowing that you got a Great discount. Sounds like a good deal.

I normally never buy extended warranties but at $580 for 6yr/100k bumper to bumper zero deductible that's actually pretty darn good. Assuming you keep your cars that long...or you can use it as a selling tool to boost the cars value in 4-5 yrs if you want to trade up..

I normally don't keep cars that long, but like you said, for the price, I can't really go wrong.

Go snatch that car up then. Your getting a brand new prius for the price of a corolla pretty much.

What are you driving now? What's its mpg? Just wondering.

    Take care.

Also, if you def. Are gonna trade up in 3 yrs or less, save the almost $600 on the warranty as it can't even be used if anything goes wrong (prob won't) until after yr 3/36k mi and with that $600 you will be able to put about 11-12k miles of gas into the car!!! Just a heads up. Your call.

I've had a busy car buying year. Long story, but it's not the common thing with me... I've got a 2015 Chevy Malibu. I'm lucky to get 18 mpg with it. Its a really nice car, I like the features, but I can't deal with the gas mileage being so awful. I figured it would get better after a few months but it's not.

image.jpg image.jpg Your in the same boat as I was. I was getting 15-18 mpg in my 2014 Charger RT Plus.....

Over the last few months of ownership see attached pic of my savings and fuel costs in my prius. Be advised I have the persona with the 17's so you will do even better than me by about 5 mpg with the 15's..

You'll be saving about the equivalent of a car payment every 3-4 months in fuel saving. FYI.

I used to put $70 a week into the Charger, now I average $23 every 2 weeks. I love it.

    -Top pic is fuel costs.
-Bottom pic is fuel savings. FYI.

Damn... Just got a call from dealer. I wanted nautical blue, but they had none in a 2. He's got several 3 in that color that I can get for $600 more than the 2, he thinks... I'm going down tomorrow morning. Gotta see the colors and decide if navigation is worth $600 to me...

Not just nav, sks on both front doors and trunk, entune (kinda sucks but ok), back up cam (standard on all 2015's not on 14's... You need a three to get it on the 14's.... Sirius radio. Prob something else that I'm forgetting. Yeah def worth it for only $600 more. Normally it's like $1600+ price diff.

Gotta tell us OTD price but sounds good and I'd go for the back up cam version...my wife would shoot me for less. Actually it'd be the frying pan as weapon of choice.

I'm now the happy owner of a 2015 Prius 2. Sea glass with the bisque interior. Wasn't my first choice, but I didn't like it with the light gray interior. Haven't even driven it home yet.

Still not 100% sure I love this color. It's a bit, well, feminine? Idk, I like it, that's what matters.

Don't put all your eggs in the Priuschat basket. This is only a Prius forum, not a professional automotive magazine. Everyone who matters, Edmunds, Car and Driver, MotorTrend, Greencar Reports, etc, etc ..... IS saying there will be a 4th gen Prius, and it will go into production the end of 2015 and be a 2016 model.

Good. I sure hope so and look forward to seeing what is new and improved as much as anyone here.

But as to the op's question, a $5000 discount is enormous and will pay for enough fuel to last a prius's lifetime.... And then some...mods, etc..

If the gen4 comes out in 6-8 months as opposed to 12-16 months from now there will not be any discount!

Like I said earlier take the 5k discount, the 0% APR, and the knowledge that your getting a darn fine car at a good deal that can yield 55+ MPG! My opinion....

Sea glass is beautiful! Especially with black rims and tinted windows. I couldn't do bisque interior though with a dog and a kid, that's why I got the persona with softex.

Did you really get 5k off MSRP on the 2015 two? That's really darn good. I would say that's a good deal on a leftover 2014 and an amazing almost unreal deal on a 2015!!!

    Enjoy.

Hey, I got Sea Glass Pearl and......

    Well...I kind of regret it.

Wish I had gone with Gray or Black.

Was an "impulse" on the day I purchased.

I'd say 85% of the time, I can like the color...it looks almost gray or off-silver. But sometimes...it looks way too baby blue to me.

So you would rather spend your free time washing / waxing / polishing a dark car then enjoying the fact that it doesn't really show dirt.... I owned a bunch of blk cars and they look great about 5% of the time, pollen season is real fun. Lol. (n)

    Just sayin....

Obviously color is a personal choice...
