Well we're not due to get the Volt until late 2012, but I have a funny feeling that will be brought forward when sales don't quite meet expectations in the US.

w/o reading the other posts ....

Guess what Mr. GM CEO ....

People that buy 'green' cars care as much or more about efficiency as looks ...

and it looks as though the farther one drives in a Volt, the less efficient it is until you're parabolic MPG / miles curve flat-lines at something well under 40 mpg's .

Speaking of flat ... betcha Volt won't sell at 15k or more units a year, ever, worldwide.

I wouldn't be at all surprised if the Volt can't pull more than 35 MPG's average on a round trip SF to LA.

What's the difference between a geek and a nerd?

Many people do think the Prius is a geek car and see that negatively. The GM CEO tried to play to this, hoping that those who share that view would decide to buy a Volt over a Prius. Unfortunately those people usually end up walking into a BMW dealership instead. :bounce:

So nerd > geek? Maybe being called a geek was bad after all.

    What a lame comment.

I wonder if it's his fault that the Volt fell from the top of the ugly tree, and hit every branch on the way down.

Can't blame the Volt on Akerson, he has only been at GM since September. He came from the telecom business and other equally wonderful businesses.

He is also a managing director at the Carlyle Group unless he just gave that job up.

The Carlyle Group has had other well know people strongly involved in it's business. Both Bushes, the Bin Laden Family ...

I guess this means it is not very forrest friendly either!

I would bet that behind the scenes, there are/were many GM workers that secretly wish that GM would have "Geeked Down" years ago so they could actually have kept their jobs and possibly sell a car the public actually wants, gets Prius MPG's, or better, and not for $41k either!!

When you have to talk down your competition, it shows people that your product can not beat the competition by itself. I've always liked product that sell themselves and don't need some jerk to try and persuade me to buy it.

(not all salesman are jerks, but when you can't respect your competition and start calling them geeks, it shows that you are a jerk. I knew nothing about this man before, but he just lost my respect.)

Peoples, for a comment like that, this guy is a jerk.

A year from now we'll know a lot more about the Volt. From initial drives, it just doesn't look good from a cost and performance standpoint.

I'm not worried. If this guy is still CEO in a year, looks like he's going to have one big pig of a car to put lipstick on.

That said, I wouldn't mind getting hands on one for a week to see what it could do.
