GM really means "Government Motors". My question is, what makes the government think they can run a car company, when they have thoroughly screwed up the whole country?

I have always been very skeptical of the Volt from when I first heard about it. The truth about it will come out in the wash....

AFAIK, the government is not involved in GM's day to day business decisions. However, it's still holding a substantial ownership along with firing former CEO Rick Wagoner then installing Ed Whitacre after former CEO Fritz Henderson resigned.

Don't blame the dealer. Blame the dope that buys it. I'm sure in Florida there's at leat one guy that has more money than god who would buy this vehicle out of curiosity. That's who this vehicle is priced for. Also blame GM for the short supply which by laws of economics will increase demand and thus price. They should charge a million and go for a real rich sucker.

I know two cars out of Austin ended up in Florida. The Florida dealers may be why. I doubt anyone will buy this car at that price, but having a volt on the lot seems to sell more cruzes, which is likely why gm is speeding up production and nationwide roll out.

Trying to convince us that a VW diesel is a smarter purchase than a Prius. He can can only pollute one thread at a time, poor guy.

Oh, they are still calling the shots. They have a strangle-hold around the figure head of GM. He can't make a move without the government's say so...

It's also mighty strange that most of Toyota's "troubles" with recalls and such occurred right about the time the government took over GM. Sounds like a typical smear campaign to me.

Hmmm.. I never really thought about that but yeah, it seems the timing is interesting.

June 2009: GM files for bankruptcy
September 09: Newsroom : Toyota/Lexus Consumer Safety Advisory: Potential Floor Mat Interference with Accelerator Pedal / Toyota and Toyota recalls 3.8 million vehicles - Business - Autos - msnbc.com
November 09: Lexus Vehicles : Toyota Announces Details of Remedy to Address Potential Accelerator Pedal Entrapment / Toyota
Jan 2010: recalls such as Toyota recall: 2.3 million more cars to fix gas pedals - Jan. 21, 2010 and stop sales
Feb 2010: Akio Toyoda testifies before Congress
April 2010: BP oil rig explodes

The media circus was in full force w/Toyota being in the news almost every day when the sticky accelerator pedals stuff was going on, recall being expanded and stop sale was issued along w/testimony in Congress. I don't remember if it was as heavily mentioned in the news prior to the pedal recalls.

Then, the US media totally shifted their attention to BP oil rig explosion.

If you pay that for it, you deserve it. I cannot find the original actual advertisement, though, just an article talking about it.

Remember, as David Rockerfeller once said, "competition is a sin." That's the way these fat arsed people think when they get to the top. Of course, this is in direct opposition to the scrappy competition that made this country great. Dirtbags, all.
