    Motion capture and computer graphics have curtailed the need for 'suit actors'. Mr. Nakajima was at least among the best of them.

    John Hurt played Elephant Man in truly dramatic fashion. He died January 2017.

    Yeah.....
    I don't know if this was caused by a lingering scarcity of Japanese rubber in 1954....or just the fact that they liked the way that concrete looked.....but it is a fun fact.....
